I spent time replacing power antenna with Toyota mast, did sway bar links and bushings, and inner and outer tie rods.
I am looking for sugestions for radio HU replacement for 2000 LX 470.

Nothing yet, but I'm getting all the parts ready (pads, lug stud, seals, gaskets, CV axles, etc.)

I've been putting this off, have the parts A/V in outs for a ps2 and an outlet. Have all the parts but not the time. Did you have to remove the seats to access that panel? Seemed like at first glance that you do.

No, you can remove the three screws on each side to remove the back of the center console. There are two additional screws that hold the cup holder to the center console. They are in the upper left corner of the bottom photo. Those are a little more difficult since you have to pull the cup holder out and hold it out to unscrew them. Then just unplug the power outlet and the back panel comes out.

Did you solder in somewhere? Or add a connector?

Added connectors to the wired plug in the bottom right of the photo. The new Blue Sea USB Fast Charges do indeed charge very fast. Plugged an iPhone to the one in the front and it was almost fully charged (from abt 40%) in 20-25 minutes of driving.

I'd suggest any double din that meets your needs. Maybe some of the LX owners can chime in, but IIRC the LX requires a plate to give the HU a finished appearance.

Installed Walbro 225 fuel pump to main tank. Still have sub tank to do. Also gapped my spark plugs (NGK BKR6EKB-11) properly as it was missing under boost. Gaps were huuuuuge, didn't check them before installing. Seems to be a lot better so far.

AHC fluid flush. Turned out PO had beat me to it, old fluid was clean as a whistle. Bummer, no satisfaction out of the job. Bleeder covers were dried out, so I get to spend like $2 to get some new ones.

I used the amazon one in out recently departed LX and the fit and finish were great compared to the homemade one I had to do when I first put the unit in 7 years ago when nobody made one of these.

Did you have to splice into your harness for your LX to replace head unit? You had the Nakamichi, correct?

Yes, it was the Nak system and there were no harnesses that I could find back then so I just spliced in. I also at first used the factory amp by feeding it a signal from line outs and not the speaker outputs as that leads to double amping the original signal which causes hissing and excessive volume for the beeps and other function sounds of the radio like the navigation voice yelling at you. A lot of the ready made harnesses just use the speaker outputs rather than the line outs which I find odd. Then a few years later the Nak amp quit and I rewired using the built in amp of the pioneer to run the speakers by making jumper cables to bypass the amp under the front passenger seat.

This has actually taken place over the past few weeks...

Replaced both leaking valve cover gaskets. Digging through the various hoses and wire harnesses that are in the way helped to explain the stealership's $700 quote. It also has sent me down a path of getting silicone hoses to replace the 16 year old rubber lines. I also now need to replace an injector plug on the harness that I broke before I fully understood what I was dealing with. More to follow on that.

Installed headers and replaced all old studs with new.

Replaced both engine mounts.

Replaced both heater T's and all six small hoses. I have had them on hand for a while, but have been lazy with their replacement. One of them actually broke when I raised the engine up for the header install and mount replacement. I had to cut all six hoses off.

Had an exhaust shop fab a 2-1/2" system with new high flow cats from the headers to a Y pipe, then 3" out the back. After enjoying the "drone" so many others have enjoyed in the past for a couple days, I added a helmholtz resonator at the dual 2-1/2 to 3" Y pipe connection. This has worked wonders and is stupid easy to do.

The starter showed signs of quitting at the exhaust shop, so another trip to the parts counter for a reman Denso and intake gaskets happened. The core was $30 so I kept the old and will rebuild and sit on the shelf.

All I wanted to do was the exhaust, but then came the can of worms. I hope that's it for a while.

$3000 @ the dealer since I'm not home to help my parents.

- reboot steering rack
- reboot inner CVs
- replace rear shocks
- replace heater t's
- front swaybar bushings
- alignment

Thank you, that is very helpful! I still have not seen a harness for the Nakamichi, but I did hear rumors of one...

Okay... Now I need details. I plan on driving down to Mexico this summer and need advice on where to stay/see. That point looks spectacular though. Did you take your dog with you?

Summer is not the time to go to Mexico. Our dogs always go, just need to carry papers showing all shots are up to date.

Do remember places like Salina Point are in the middle of nowhere and you are on your own 100%. I do not recommend anyone doing this kind of travel in an unprepared vehicle, solo, without excellent recovery gear and tide understanding.
