I had a Kona last night at dinner. Some random restaurant in Las Colinas.

Slow roll week again. Little things done though.

Wiring hooked into factory harness, we have ignition and crank signal. Fuel pump gets power. OBD2 port installed. Fuel lines finished. Oil poured in engine.

I think I could pour gas in it and start it.

Still need to swap clutch fork, finish fan shroud, and all the other things.

Something about 95* outside makes me want to float around with the family.

Dropped the trans last night (literally, it fell off the jack) at 10:42.. managed not to wake the house or get squished.

Swapped the clutch fork and need to find time to poke everything back together.

I’m going to sacrifice some sleep this week as I need to make bounds to get it drivable.

Kids start school in 2.5 weeks and I’m going to do my best to drive them to school on the first day again this year.

Finally feels like I made some progress over the last few days.

Proper Clutch fork / throw out bearing installed
Park brake reinstalled
Transmission mount reinstalled
New output seal and speedi sleeve
Filled up power steering fluid

Had a beer.

Looks like the solution here is to cut the slave cyl rod down to proper length? Far from a good picture.

Radiator hoses mocked up
Power steering cooler mounted
Battery cables ready
Front driveshaft ready (forgot to take the rear to the driveline shop this week)

Needs o2 bungs, fuel pump wire corrected and some fuel which I’m headed to pick up soon.

Still a long ways to go.. but it has the chance of running this weekend.

Accomplished a lot today. Time with family.

Quite a few odds and ends. 02 bungs, fuel pump wiring, fuel.

Get it all hooked up and pushed outside. Call my 3 year old over to help. I give her a crash course in starting it while the battery is unhooked. Ask her to practice while I’m pouring fuel in. She’s ecstatic.

Hook up battery, fuel pump primes quickly.

Ok start it.. crank crank crank. Hmm. Do it again.. same.

Well

She needs to potty so she runs up stairs and I grab my super duper basic code reader. No engine RPM cranking. After a Quick Look I diagnose the fact I never plugged the crank sensor in. Plug it in, and wait for her to get back.

Ok I tell her let’s try again.

She hits the key and this is the screen grab some the video.

Safe to say it runs and that’s a huge step forward. Went to dinner came back home and hit the key. Boom started like a brand new one. Man I love the LS world.

So many little ends to tie up. So many big pieces of the puzzle left. But I can see the light.

That is just tip of the iceberg with these motors. Smooth easy starts are nice, but it’s the throttle response that gets me excited. The F was a good motor. The SBC was sweet. The LS is a joy to drive.

A joy I am beyond ready for. I haven’t drove my 40 since April. I might not even take the top off this year
