Vintage TEQ @ToyotaMatt had some of the linkage components at his web store.

I've seen so many variations along the years, it's impossible to tell. A buddy of mine had a 72 FJ40 that used a cable, my 76 FJ40 uses a linkage.

Not really, its pretty cut and dried, if you take the po equations out of the math.

Co-signing @Chungas Revenge and adding... when I un-webed mine last year - was a mix of linkage parts from Mark @65swb45 and Matt @ToyotaMatt. Had no issues getting the parts quickly from them.

Mine does have a cable. Is stock linkage style? This would answer wether or not I can easily go back to stock, as I have no linkage and I’m sure it’s not easy to come By.

Also I’m not 100% the drivetrain/ engine is solid so I don’t want to jump off into a sniper setup yet.

Mine would be to put a knockoff carb on it with fresh mechanical pump.

- these set-ups 1973-12/74 F1.5 , 1/75-7/80 2F and the 8/80-9/87 FJ40 / FJ60 variants final revised refinement of nothing less then a Mechanical-Meshing Ballet of Precision JIS JDM Technology still to this day , is so dam fascinating to me , to watch it correctly installed , all the puzzle pieces , all in tip-top shape as MR-T intended . is nothing less the pure TEq BLISS ....

- each TECH. video is in-depth in its own way shape and form , take the time and make the time to take this all in ,. because i did just that for people like you ...

- Safety is paramount here !

- so is replacing old tired wear-use parts ,

- JERRY-RIGGING these set-up is both un-safe & not tolerated in any way PERIOD !
- do it correctly , do it one time , and enjoy the results for the LONG-TERM , simple as that .....

Sitting on the porch having my morning coffee today I decide to dive into the accelerator pedal stuff..

Mine 100% has a cable.

I looked at Toyota Matt’s website and I definitely don’t have the linkage that’s listed. The pedal is different.

What I do have is the same thing that’s listed on cruiser outfitters as 1968/69 only throttle cable.

Can anyone with a 68/69 post a picture of the carb linage that hooks this cable to the carb?

Also not much work to report being completed this week.

I did get it back inside last weekend and have spent about an hour on it throughout the week. I removed the doors to make life easier crawling around in the garage.

I’ve got the wiring harness 75% out of the dash. It’s all loose and ran in from outside the firewall, I just need to snake it out from behind the vent linkage. Or get the vent cover off so I can remove the vent linkage and just take the wiring out. Not much free time to spend on it. Baby steps however.

Looking at Matt’s website this morning. I could burn a few paychecks pretty easily there.

Full disclosure - I'm new to all this as well (and reserve the right to be naïve) and removed the Weber and went back to Aisan. I looked up 1969 schematic - I think I did - look here at the various accelerator options from 3/1969-1975 (as I understand it). Might help see where you are. Webers are via cable and the PO butchered the gas pedal on mine enough that I could not go to linkage w/o getting an unmolested pedal - I got one cheap inexpensive.

What year carb are you going to? a 1969 - then the cable would work. A 1977, you would need to look at the linkage option, again as I understand. Decide/know the carb you are going to it so you spend only as many paychecks as you need. I will say from my experience, even though this has been a PITA, I am glad I went down this road of removing the Weber.

My opinion, and maybe worth what it costs, nothing.

Here’s what I’m working with. If I go back to stock carb I’ll do my best to get a 69 exact fit.

That appears to be the most accurate representation of what I have.

Keep in mind I have the cable still on the body but currently have a Weber 38.

Is that a Weber carb? @red66toy just posted what I think is a period correct Toyota carb if your going to stick with stock.

Yes that is a Weber--would recommend returning to the orig Aisin(sp?) carb-- get rid of the OEM exhaust mani and get a set of headers(look that up on the forum for the new header manufacturing thread(a Downey return from the grave by some serious Mud members--never to be duplicated)--they need the support of all of us--order now--you will never-ever be disappointed in he product or the performance)

DITTO ^^^_ I pretty sure I picked up one of the last Downey/Marks headers years ago and swapped out an old Rochester Carb in the process. JimC rebuilt an original 76 carb and I sourced the correct linkage from MUD Members in the Want adds.

@gonzopancho is your go to for the “new” reborn header. Call Mark at “Marks Off Road” @65swb45 for your carb and linkage needs.

Two of the best “upgrades” I ever added.

Toss in a new starter (Gear Reduction) and a new Dizzy (I went Electronic) and you will be in the “High Cotton”….

It’s got a header (although not sure make or how solid it is), electronic distributor, and gear reduction starter already on it.

I’m still searching the web for pictures of a 68-69 carb setup
