Twenty years ago, I bought the axles off of an 1979 FJ55 a buddy was scrapping and put them under my early 40. I don't really know what I have with the front hubs:

I know I've read about the hubs in the past, but can't find a link now. I'd like to add Aisin manual hubs if possible. Would they be a simple bolt in?

They are called "Drive flanges"

Thanks, everyone!

You’ll need a lock ring, studs, cone washers, and nuts to bolt on a set of AISIN hubs. I don’t know how your drive flanges are secured, but they may have the necessary hardware.

‘79 would be standard ‘short body’ AISIN hubs. Long body ASCO are quite rare and were only used ‘76-78. I hope that doesn’t confuse things… unless otherwise stated they’ll be short body hubs.

So many middle eastern imports all had these standard hubs

All Middle East Land Cruisers have drive flanges unless the owner went to the trouble to change to locking hubs. I didn’t see a single example in 4 years of living there and lots of travel around the region. FWIW I prefer that look; guess I got used to it.
