Cleaned the sun roof drains-last big rain i was drenched with about 2 cups
Changed the oil
Installed a fuse panel
Ran the xm radio antenna in the dash and under trim until I got to the back sliding window, anyone else got a better way than thru one of the sliding windows?
Retaped two ventshades to the doors, so no more flappy flappy flappy in the wind

I need to get some seat covers and a scion radio...

Last week

Added a quart of oil, some power steering fluid, 3 cans of R-134A(can you say lost it all putting on the 134 adapter) oh and washed the engine bay and all the GSMTR dirt off the outside and engine. Will throw it on the lift and power wash the underside sometime in the next couple of weeks. :)

Not exactally exciting, but what I did with the truck last week. :D

No big plans for her as this will be Kitty's new dd. Might add some step sliders though. Also need to tone down the window tint that's on there...can't see jack at night.

Congrats!! That Runner looks clean!! Let me know how you like those Coopers, thinking of putting a set on the 80

Quiet is my main objective this time around on the 80..... she hasn't seen the trail in a year. Also those coopers come in my favorite tall skinny option 255/85/16, Pizza cutters for life

and if you decide to upgrade to some different meats keep me in mind :)

Those Coopers are supposed to be discontinued and replaced with the ST MAXX in the next few years from what I have heard. I tried to find the Coopers before I bought my KM2s but they were $$$. As usual I went with better deal.

Haven't "tested" them, but they are quiet on the road.

Also, just noticed this morning that it has some beefy 3/8" aluminum plate skids under the radiator and oil pan. :D

That is military grade armor aluminum. Back from Brian's tank repair days.

Until I purchase a fridge, I'll use a cooler. I secured it to the new platform/box with the old corner trays I found in the attic.

Full synth change complete (my second one in two months...with 7000 miles in that time...ugh). Also rewired my hardwire/fuse/switch combo for the fridge.

Ordering a Corvette TRAC button to override mine (Vette button is small and round and will fit where I have in mind).

IFS spindle rebuild...I seem to be eating unit bearings faster than normal. I think I know why now. The seal inside the spindle that faces the CV axle was toast, as well as the mating seal on the end of the CV. Probably killed my wheel sensor too (VSC/TRAC lights on). Had no luck tracking down replacement seal for the spindle from a local source. Eventually had to order from Lowe, but reused my old seal in order to get it back on the road. Just smeared a tub-full of grease between the two seals for now. Got the new bearing in and cleaned up the spindle and rotor dust shield.

The unit bearing cracked as I was pressing it off the hub flange.

I think I am going to do this rebuild as well Rick. Would be interested in your tips. I like rebuilding the bearings at 100-150k so I am due.

I posted a similar thread with a few more details in the FJC forum. If you are running stock UCA, then separating the ball joint might be avoided. I took my spindle completely off because separating the UCA is relatively easy with my TC uniball uppers. If you remove the two 19mm bolts from the LCA (and the tie rod outer) then you could just rotate the spindle around on the truck and still access the seal. I removed/replaced the CV seal while the axle assembly was still on the truck. If your spindle is gunked up and needs more attention - like in the blast cabinet, then you'll need to break the upper ball joint to remove it completely.

Unit bearings aren't generally considered serviceable. They can be separated and repacked but it usually isn't worth the time.

If they do need to be replaced it is far easier to buy the entire hub and bearing assembly.

We're not really talking about servicing the bearing itself. There is a seal tapped into the inner face of the spindle arm that I don't think I've ever replaced. The CV axle assemblies come with the interfacing seal already mounted and tend to be banged up from shipping. I had an extra one of the CV seals, but I didn't have the spindle seal readily on hand. I think the lesson learned is to replace the inner seal on the spindle as well as the outer seal on the CV assembly, if you are going to the trouble of replacing the unit bearing too.
