cut the rear bumper off just to find more rust! Vaccumed out the interior and begged mdennis for hise rear bumper mount brackets that attach bumper to frame.

It's more for dust (Uwharrie was brutal a month ago) but here is a video just for fun. There was one more crossing this day that was similar, and I'm headed some where this weekend where it might come in useful.

Install was easy. 3 hours. Align your template and drill, paint, bolt, done. Hardest part was the darn plastic fasteners in the wheel well.

Is that hurricane creek?? Nice video...... must haven been some huge rain to get the creek that high.

It might! ;)

That was after some heavy rains a few months ago. I camped through the tornadoes in NC about a month ago - lots of rain then too but not any wind where I was at near Mortimer.

The rain starts around 6:14. About 6" in 12 hours.

Ever since our trip to VA last weekend I've been hearing this whining that sounded dreadfully like my rear diff. We got back to ATL Tuesday night and I thought it was just the trailer or wind noise. Wednesday night I returned our rental trailer back to Uhaul and headed to ACC, as it was now obvious that it was not the trailer. We jacked it up and listened to it more closely and couldn't nail down what it was. I suspected a u-joint was part of it, but planned on digging further into it this weekend. Turns out is was a bad pinion bearing. This bearing got replaced 6K miles ago when I regeared, so it was pretty shocking to discover that it was literally disintegrating. There were big pits and chinks missing in the rollers. Luckily we found a replacement at a local dealer and got it back together again.

Glad it's back together...It's to close to GSMTR to break anything now!!

Wow Rick! That is a lot of bearing damage for 6K miles. Was the race as bad as well?

I got the Choke cable sorted out and working smooth and also installed a locking throttle cabe. Nice of Toyota to have it already set up to just add a cable and cable stop. It will come in handy when winching and on climbs to avoid heel toeing the brake and accelorator. You can either set it and lock it or use it as a hand throttle.

Zilla is running well now and we took it for a little shakedown run on our property. There are a few different places that work well for checking performance on a steep grade both up and down and many places to checck side slope feel etc.

Replaced the valve cover gasket on the Cruiser today. And it SUCKED!!!!! Biggest complaint is having to lay across the engine bay to get at the rear bolts. But it is done. New gaskets, new PVC and grommet, cleaned the Throttle body. Ran out of time to degrease the engine, but I will get at that this week.

Finally got around to setting my paint booth and paint curing oven at the house and started with a coat a few coats of primer and a few coats of hammered black. All in all, it turned out pretty good. I'm looking foward on getting it install, but this SOB is heavy.

A couple coats of primer and some black:

The race was well worn from whatever chunks kept rolling around in there, but not nearly as bad as the rollers look. Both the race and the bearing were replaced. ACC is putting in a warranty call to JT to see if I can get credit for the $50 I paid Atlanta Toyota for the part. I was just happy Atl Toy had it in stock, so that I could get it back together over the weekend!

Got in a wreck with it and ordered a PSC hydro assist system and a Ruff Stuff rear diff cover. Just in time for GSMTR!:)

out with the new, in with the old.
93 3row brass core radiator replacement for 95 2 row aluminum.
Random 16 yr old plastic failure on top tank. And im very aware to stay away from the tank when wrenching. I think its time had simply come to give up. Thankfully it didnt happen in the middle of the night returning from $out's. but the next morning a mile from the house.

Then went and tested the temps in the sun and sand of STR :D

I know that crack very well. My JB Weld fix last about 2 weeks after mine split. Those radiators are not cheap.

Yeah, not cheap. And I didnt bother with the JB after seeing some top tank failures take out a hood and fan on mud.

RHT hooked me up but I couldnt get ahold of Rick so the process wasnt as smooth and I didnt get the same price on the radiator as Dan. Not sure if it was a regional price difference or clerical snafu. Its almost like they charged me for the 95-97 unit which cost more and doesnt work as well supposedly. I was in NEED so I didnt bother to question it at the time.

they say the 3 row brass cools better than the 2 row aluminum .......and I listened :)

never had temp problems and religiously stayed away from the tank and nipple when wrenching but it cracked anyways. Hwy temps were dead on 186 just as before.

I am starting to see some green on my radiator, may have to get me one of these.

Ditto. I have been seeing some green, but at 250,000mi just a little green is okay lol

nope, you guys are screwed. Your supposed to be seeing red :D

you could save a couple hundred and go with a Koyo that a lot of folks have been satisfied with
one can get an earlier koyo C1917 radiator with brass tanks as well.
