Decided to join the Dorkel crew, so got me one of those fancy eBay cheapos. Looked a little funny pulling it out of the box....

And no, the photo is not reversed, it mounts on the DS. And yes, I ordered the correct one but was sent this one. Already refunded me, but they refused to resend the correct one, said it was cost prohibitive and didn't even want this one sent back???

What 80 series are these used on? All the Aussie ones I've seen look like they still mount on the right side?

Just go ahead and install it. Won't be hooked to anything so it can deliver a nice breath of fresh cooling air into the engine bay as you cruise down the road.. Who knows, you could be a trend setter :D.

Picked up a new K9 RR from Paul over at Equipt Expedition Outfitters to replace my ARB. Also picked up their Swift awning and loving it so far.
Also put some new LED's on (not shown in this series of pics) and they work great. Pretty happy with my super early Christmas.

My daughter came home from school last night so I stole my 80 back this morning and cleaned it up before she headed out for the Central Michigan vs. Western Michigan game.

Past weekend, replaced transfer fluid, PO Head transmission fluid in it.
So then I flushed the transmission fluid as well just to make sure it didn't have gear oil in it.

Fixed a bad ground with my new accessory battery. Installed LED light bar.

Installed some new Trail Gear chromoly locking spindle nuts, brand new wheel bearings, and fresh RedLine moly grease. Not sure if the TG spindle nuts are a vast improvement over the original design..time will tell.

I guess at this point ANYTHING is an improvement over what you've been plagued with...even TrailFail. :meh:

Yep...Had to try a different route, but I think I'm good now!

Drove my "part-time" 80 on a 700 mi round trip to Central Nowhere, GA, with no AC on a Hades-hot day. Worked great with the front diff on a shelf back home :(. I bought some LX seats and looked at a new-to-me 1fz-fe with my 14y/o in tow. Oh, and we ate a Taco Bell!!! I forgot how bad that place is, but she loves it :meh:.

Decided to pass on the motor for another month. It was priced right but $$$ is short, ect. Plus no room with the LX seats in the back, no way to get it out of the truck once back home, no engine stand for it, and I forgot any of my rigging gear back at the house. The last thing anybody needs is a 700lb missile resting lightly in the back of their truck at highway speeds. Tie that s*** down!

All in all, spending time with my eldest, driving my truck - a great trip

picked up a trailer to fix up, got new tires and took the 80 elk hunting. Also found a new use for the winch.

I changed the oil.

I never been off-road so I decided to do so.

I saw mud and was like I GOTTA GO IN THERE! I've seen people drive in mud on YouTube and thought I could do it! You know if you get stuck just turn left then right, drive the reverse. NOPE.

I got stuck no one was there with me to help pull me out and no cell phone reception! After 10 minutes (and thank god only 10 minutes) a Ford pickup appeared! He saved my ass. I got mud everywhere and cleaning is a ***** I now truly understand woody.

Rule #1: Don't go wheeling by yourself. The buddy system.

Rule #2: Don't embarrass the brand. IE don't get yourself stuck doing something stupid so have to have a Ford pull you out.

You have been adequately shamed. Glad you are having fun. :flipoff2:

What he said.

Today I took on a project that I've waited to do since January. The filthy freaking coin holders finally got on my nerves bad enough to clean them out. Top tip: You can chase grime out of them with swabs and toothpicks, or you can pop them out with a large screwdriver and a dental pick. Be extra careful to not put pressure on the thin divider on the inside, or to slip and mar the console.

I then put them in a large coffee cup full of soapy water, and let scalding hot water from the tap pour into the cup, which agitated them and steam cleaned them for a couple minutes. The hot and supple coin holders than popped right back in.

Cool.

You need to pull the bolt in your cupholder and clean it too! Ewwwww.
