Drove the family up to www.skytoporchard.com in North Carolina for some apple picking. It was a pretty great time and nice to get out of town for a bit. While we were there we learned that Duke Power wants to shave the tops off the mountains of western North Carolina and run power lines through a few hundred miles of beautiful hiking and private residences - all in the name of progress.

We next headed to www.hubbahubbasmokehouse.com for some smoked brisket. That place is great and the owner drives an FJ Cruiser so we like supporting that. The man's appreciation for quality is reflected in his food and his choice of vehicle.

F$&# Duke Power!

Scored this '91 for $800 with a bad water pump and dead battery. Tears on both front seat but oh well, for the price I couldn't pass.

I parked it at my uncle's house for now because if my CFO finds out, she will throw fit... Lol. Hopefully she wouldn't make me sell it again...

152k miles, one owner, maintained by the owner which was a Yota dealer tech until he retired. It's been sitting in his yard for 3yrs. He has another one that he bought for his wife in '92 with 92k miles and planning to sell it by the end of the year...

Got a bunch of maintenance knocked off:

-timing belt & tensioner
-tire rotation
-oil change
-driveline greasing
-drain & fill of my coolant to bring the concentration up to snuff for winter, following the flush I did a month or so ago
-installed a bracket/holder for my 4-wire flat trailer wiring so it doesn't just hang behind the truck

Completed my R-12 to R-134a conversion. Not sure how accurate the digital meat thermometer is but the AC feels cold for the first time in 8+ years!!

Not a thing at all. My wife & son on the other hand are driving down to Pomona where he starts his 1st year at Cal Poly Pomona (mech engineering). It doesn't seem that long ago that I bought our 80 brand new as a baby hauling vehicle... and now he's doing most of the driving to get dropped off for start of college next week.

Need help, I can't help it, It's really bad, I'm completely submerged in this... I'm loosing sleep & constantly carry my phone around reading 80 series subjects & build threads on the mud forum. Is this what they call "The Addiction"?

Thanks to @baldilocks I have aquired a set of the MAF drop brackets that I have been writing talking about. They where very simple to put on with a we bit of filing they slid right in. The 1st thing I noticed is they measured out to a 2.5" drop rather than the assumed 2" by the name of them. Once on the road I noticed a big difference in road manners. It's a more relaxing feel & Lexi turns much better. The rear seems to follow the turn rather than want to lift up & come overy the top. A stiffer sway bar in the rear I think would help this also.
That was the bonus. Now for the main reason I got these was to hopefully increase down travel, well I hit a bit of a round block that will be easily fix in a short manner. As for now I'm enjoying the benefit of a better handling DD.
Oh the road block... well, it seems that I will be needing to remove a bit of metal restricting the rotational twisting movement of the control arm. The pics will say the rest.

They definitely don't hang down as bad as the 3" MAF brackets. I'm still using my yellow caster bushings.

What is your wife's cell phone #? I promise I'm not going to call her to rat you out. :flipoff2:

Seriously though, when she finds out and makes you sell it, let me know, I will buy it. I need the triplet to my son's rig and mine. And nobody loves 3FEs more than me. Amirite @NLXTACY?!?

Zero on my truck. @Qball came over to install some FJC wheels with Toyo MTs. He got boned. Mudder sold them to QBall but we soon realized why he was so quick to sell, the backspacing. The new tire is about the same size height wise but an inch narrower with the back spacing sucking the tire into the center of the truck. This reduces his overall footprint by min. one inch. Mucks with his CoG and will rub on the inner fender well unless he goes spacers. Which he isn't. Back off they came and off to Craigslist

Most fjc wheels need min 1 inch spacers.. I have some if he wants to keep them
