Saw this Landcruiser at the local Wal-Mart. Waited for the owner, but they were taking too long.

Getting ready to change the oil. What is the consensus on oil? What are people running?

I would just say check the FAQ and the owner's manual.
I just stick with the the PO had done as instructed by the guy who rebuilt the engine ( Robbie, a fellow mudder). Shell Rotella T6.

Finally got one of these:

So I can press in new stock control arm bushings. Then I can finally put on my slee castor plates.

I have seen that truck in southern utah a couple times, if I recall correctly I saw it being towed behind an rv with Canadian plates. My guess is that it belongs to a Canadian snow bird.

Now I know where I can get mine pressed! :)
I'm happy to share. Lets make sure I dont lose an eye or a limb first though.

Moved my EFI Relay inside the cab away from the heat of the exhaust manifold. Here's to no more "hot, no start" issues. :) It didn't cost me a thing. I had an old relay that had gone bad. I pried the metal cap off and gutted it. Cut the spades to fit the females and had some 12ga wire laying around. Took about 30 minutes (45 if you count me freaking out about my 80 not starting because I blew a fuse).

More like "what didn't I do with/to my 80 the past two days. What started out as a HG replacement turned into "I think I will replace the wiring harness and everything else while I'm in there. Bought a reman starter from Spector ($275) I turn the key and all I get is spin. Being it's 10pm I think I will digress. Who else dreams of driving their 80 to South America? Yeah that's what I'm preparing for and Spector is not helping! LOL. Frustration becomes humor this late in the day! Cheers my fellow 80 lovers!

Got back from Afghanistan on Thursday, got her out of storage on Friday, washed it this morning, and now I'm headed up to Bear Mountain. New York doesn't have much for trails out on the island, hoping to find some up in the catskills.

I was surprised, after sitting for several months, she started right up. Didn't skip a beat.

Installed a new set of plug wires and spark plugs. The plug wires were likely original to the vehicle which is now at nearly 300K kms. Also wrapped the main engine wire harness with some exhaust tape as the orig wrap had completely disintegrated. Recommend that if you haven't checked yours recently do do before any of those wires melt!
