Put 321 miles on one tank of gas today, I'd say the 40s and 5.29s are the perfect combo ;)

Went over chinook pass to a buddies cabin on the little naches river

Swapped out my clamps for by diff breather extension. Installed fancy rubber lined clamps to replace the plumbing strap.

Took out the sleeping platform I made earlier in the week when I discovered my plan to have a flip up front portion that would go over my folded down second row seats (not tumbled all the way forward) wasn't going to work because I hadn't built it tall enough. Which actually worked out pretty well so I will have more drawer space underneath it now. Didn't get it finished but got the frame built. Also found brown carpet that is a dead match for the factory carpet so I'm pretty stoked about that. Unfortunately I had to order it and it isn't cheap.

Don't any of you 80 guys get interested in a 7x Series variant.....:flipoff2:
no, drive enough of the rough, slow, rusting buckets at work not to even look twice :flipoff2: even FTE ones aren't that great...and don't start me on the v8 :worms:

Replaced the DS wing mirror and drove over to see the clouds from the Angeles Crest Highway. Clouds were spectacular! All baselining completed, now the truck badly needs a lift, sliders and 35s, to cast away the soccer-mom wagon look. On my next to-do list.

Found a nice place to put my phone holder! I bought this with the idea of mounting to the windshield but I didn't like it obstructing the view. So after some relocating I found that the underside to this area is a perfect fit for the suction cup!

Oh and I also swapped out front brake pads and the alternator...

I made a convertible! Almost ready for the body swap. Then I'll have the fancy clock and an FZJ. Kind of a lot of work for a clock? I'll also have a floater rear end too though. Oh boy!

Well my awesome beach trip turned sour yesterday. We started to drive home and at about 10 miles my AC compressor seized and destroyed the pulley. Funny thing is I haven't used the AC in over 6 months.

We tried putting on a shorter belt to bypass the AC but it was a bit too short. Ended up getting towed 50 miles off the beach.

Once off the beach we drove to Oreillys to get a new compressor. They gave me the wrong one but we made it work with two bolts and a ripped belt to make it back to Oreillys to exchange it for the right one. Also got a new belt in the process. It was a long day but made back home the 200+ miles after leaving the beach.

Checked it to GPS trip and scan gauge, can't believe it.. But over the past 2 tanks I have got around 16.2mpg lol, and the 5.29s with 40s have my speedo correct.

Two questions:

1) When did you install the auxiliary gas tank and how much fuel was in it?

2) What towing company did you use to tow you to get 16.2 mpg?

It was downhill both directions......

drove in the 80 from Baton Rouge to Biloxi to visit the new Frank Gehry designed museum: http://georgeohr.org/

back along the beach - the devastation from Katrina is still palpable 10 years later - lots of empty lots and properties for sale :(
