What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (136 Viewers)

Sold the 80 today, a guy bought it for his wife who was expecting a baby. I felt proud to sell it but sad at the same time. The whole drive to the sale, I kept telling "LC" to be as good to the owners as she was to my family. With a new valve cover gasket, which I included with the sale, she will be good as new!

I told the guy to join MUD, without it and a few fellow cruiser owners I would be lost.

I wanted to thank all of you guys and gals who have responded to my posts and helped me get through fixes and questions. I still have my 40 so I will be lurking and checking up on you guys!

Explored some logging roads today and I realize that doesn't look all that exciting but throw in the risk of suprising someone checking on their meth lab raises the adrenaline level somewhat.

Busy weekend of wheeling, camping, and wrenching.

Took off with the family to Canada for a quick overnight camping trip at Harrison Lake, BC. With the help of the guys at the Coastal Cruisers club here on Mud, it was suggested that I take my brood to Hale Creek. Excellent suggestion guys! Amazing scenery with an entertaining bit of 4 wheeling to get there.

We were all excited to go on our trip…

And the wheeling once we got there was fun.

But we all played pretty hard and it was time to go home…

Today was a wrenching day, and my brother gave me a big hand doing some upgrades to the Cruiser. We started off with drilling and fitting a new skidplate to his Jeep Rubicon, then installed Powerstop rotors and ceramic pads at all four corners of my 80.

Following the brake job, we re-clocked the control lever on my new 12K HF winch to fit it’s new home on the HF winch plate. The winch plate was then fitted to the frame rails of the Cruiser with the help of a sawzall and the trusty flap disk. We ran out of steam to finish the winch project, but will pick it up next Saturday when I need to replace the sway bar mount that let go while wheeling this weekend. I do believe some new braided stainless brake lines will find their way aboard at that time as well…

I opened the sunroof and all the windows, including the third row sliders, and then took a ride with the wife around the local reservoir at sunset. Nice.

That's a sad story. I got a lump in my throat.

Installed an EMS Powered complete system. Speski OffRoad is now an EMS Powered dealer by the way. Fell free to contact me with any questions.

Pic of the new high clearance inside the frame rail exit option. Tubing is black as its ceramic coated;)

Finished the brake job/rotor replacement/wheel bearing packing, installed a computer fan on my old norcold fridge to help it out in the heat, and replaced some radiator hoses and flushed the coolant just in time for a quick camping trip to Lake Texoma.

welded rear ff holes , also filled toyota logo holes , and getting ready to do roof holes .\../ ... ordered new tires and primed wheels

don't worry he's a pro , he's wearing safety contacts ... XD LMAO !!!!

Exercised the truck out on a little adventure with the Land Rover Crowd. 3 Landcruisers were there including mine (left) Lancecruiser (right) and Sailor (Second Picture) - Graham had to use his winch services twice to pull out 2 rovers in the morning.

Andy managed to sink park of his truck into a pond filling up his cabin and sucking water into all the intakes pipes including the engine, pulled the glow plugs and got the water out... Hopefully he doesn't have any serious damage. He limped home with a disconnected intake a puffing white smoke.

Replaced rear rotors, calipers, and pads with the help of my brother. The 80 stops great, but the ebrake needs some adjusting. Next is the valve cover, pcv valve, spark plug grommets, oil pump seal...and a rear brake light.

ordered my distributor from cruiser parts, anxiously awaiting its arrival

Found another Craigslist gem - custom steel bumper - a heavy beast! Also, finally got around to getting the running boards off. Couldn't have done it without my new offset wrench set - not a quick removal thanks to some tight spots underneath. Living in a big city apartment didn't help...no garage, so I was under my truck while it was parked on the busy, narrow street...

Taking the boards off is the cheapest lift ever! Amazing how much taller my stock suspension rig looks without them.

I like that bumper a lot! It doesn't look like it has any provision for a winch, but I bet one could be stuffed in there with a bit of work.

Busy and long weekend.

Between watching my daughter at a horse riding competition, prepping for an interview and replacing the Valve cover gasget, EGR valve, vacuum solenoid and putting on my new (to me at least) 315 70s :) AND cleaning the bejesus out of the engine compartment and undercarriage  , it was a full one.

Installed an 03 130 amp Tundra alternator on my 91 3FE.

hauled 800 pounds of compost to the garden...at least it required 4low and locking the CDL to back up the driveway and the little dirt access path.

Pulled codes 25-26. Cleaned and waxed. Lubed doors and tail gate. Slowly bringing back to glory!

Continued pulling parts off the block so I can pull the oil pan and timing cover off. Cleaning oil caked parts along the way!
