Wandered around the AZ Strip

In the process dealt with a faulty efi relay, thankfully the PO had an extra in the glove box, or else I wouldn't be typing this now!

Replaced old undersized 24f battery with costco group 65 battery.

Had enough slack on the wires. Damn near a slam dunk. Just took the cable glands off the battery box, disconnected the wires from the positive terminal so I could pull the fusible links through one by one, cleaned up contact areas with emery cloth and sprayed with deoxit, and assembled. Even managed to fit the cable glands back in. Existing hold-down was sufficient and everything. Not even half a banana IMHO.

Can you post some more info about the console? Is Akela the manufacturer?

Toyota is the manufacturer, Akela is the mud user who was able to track down and obtain both parts to make up the double console lid, one half was "discontinued" status in the Toyota Japan parts system. It's a Toyota accessory, and seems to be pretty rare for the fridge consoles.

Hoping we'd get snowed in at Mammoth, but with the Duratracs, there was no chance of that :crybaby: - escaped today in between storms.

Took my daughter to her one year old birthday party. After all, I bought the 80 for her...

Help a brother out!

Check your knuckles, its probably going in there.

Mine has done the rev since rebuild moly goes from knuckle to axle turning my diff oil to a mud like substance. 15k miles on a full axle rebuild with marlin seals.

Hey, I have a 92 fj80 that is the same color as yours (love it :)) and I am looking at new tires. What size are you running? They look like Km2s, 33x10.5?

Took my LX out wheeling for the first time. Went to some local trails to compare it to my FJ62. Mud flaps and running boards have to go... Had a great time.

Took the 80 out in the middle of the mega storm with my son to do some puddle crossings. It rained 1.5" over the two hours while we were out. Rivers overflowing, flash flooding, mud slides, and so on. Epic downpours, and the worst part was refueling, as the rain was coming down at a 45 degree angle, and I was completely soaked. My son insisted on having his window down so that he could "high-five" the puddles. Classic.

Also found out that my windshield seal does not really seal in such extreme conditions...ordering a new one, ugh, I hate leaks.

 and Merry Christmas to all!

Steve

Merry Christmas to mom.

I put a wreath on my mom's grave. She is buried at the back of our farm where she wanted to be. I take a wreath out every year and place it on her grave. She passed away 19 years ago at the age of 42.

Christmas is a happy time for me. She left me with a lot of things and the simple way of life was one of them. She left me with a lot of great memories and many of them revolve around Christmas. My 80 feels right with the simple life and fits in well with all that.

This is down in a river valley on the Kentucky River.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of my Mud family. Here's to you and to making more memories. This thread alone is full of them.

Agreed with the running boards, replace them with sliders. For the mudflaps, just give them a little trim. Poultry scissors do the trick nicely.

Blessings to you and yours, man. Thank you for sharing that.

I lost my dad this past March and this afternoon the family and I will pile in the 80 to head up into the mountains where he loved to be. I feel close to him up there.
