I haven't done my 80 yet, but I was a professional car audio installer for years when I was young. Every 1990s Toyota I ever did, I reused the OEM brackets. Are you sure the brackets you have are stock? Did you accidentally swap left/right? Post some pics of where things are going wonky
I think is probably the choice of head unit I went with that is not helping. The Blaunpunkt holes dont like up with anything. Ill probably just have to hack the bracket a bit. Ill post some pictures in a bit

Installing new belt moldings and inner glass weatherstrips on the doors and windows all around. Was lucky to find these in black to match my ride.

Blaupunkt is one of the few brands I don't have experience with, but I think you're right. Bizarre! Looks like you could get away with slotting the hole front hole and trimming a bit to clear the bezel. Might want to measure first to make sure the radio will be flush with this configuration. Good luck!
That is my plan!

We are on the Ferry from Skagway Alaska to Bellingham. We did not make it to Anchorage like we were orginally hoping to. My dad got tired of the long days of driving and wanted to slow down the pace. Alaska is a big state! From Colorado to Skagway I have put 3,400 miles on the cruiser, and to make it to Anchorage, it would have been a little more than 1,000 miles up before turning back around and doing 800 back to Skagway to catch the Ferry. It would have been a lot more drive time and not a lot of site seeing. But all good, still an unforgettable trip with my dad, and my mom flew into Whitehorse to do the Ferry and roadtrip back with us. We had a few good camp spots before grabbing the Ferry on the 18th.

I definitely will be coming back up here someday to explore further north. It is an incredilbe state and I know we just scratched the surface. The Ferry ride in itself has been quite the experience. Beautiful mountains.

I have a set if you want to buy mine since I ended up deflaring mine before ever replacing them. Mine are black
Thank you for the offer. I have a white cruiser so would prefer white weatherstripping.

Finally finished the cosmetic refresh on my '97 FZJ80. New front bumper, grill, all fender flare gaskets, drip rail trim, mud flaps, center caps, wipers and arms, and rear bumper end pieces. Removed the running boards and did some paint touch ups also.
Next up is a paint correction and ceramic coating.

Not sure which is cleaner, your cruiser or your garage! Nice ride and thanks for the link to the white fender pads, just ordered mine!

A few tips for the gaskets:
-Take it slow, I did one corner at a time and in total I have probably 8 hours into doing them all from removing the flares, cleaning behind them, prepping the surface, and adjusting the gasket to get it as good as I could, and reinstalling the flares.
-Good wax and grease remover to prep the flare and body surface is a must. Scrape off all old adhesive. Clean both surfaces where the adhesive lays with the wax and grease remover.
-Plastic razor blades came in handy.
-Good to have some replacement flare pins/clips on hand: 90249-06160, 90249-06132 , 90467-09077. Also you need 4 of these short black gaskets for rear flares: 61788-60011
-The new flare gaskets do not have adhesive on the full gasket on both sides, so I bought some extra 1/8" double sided adhesive to secure them down better. Here is what I used and it worked great: Amazon.com: 3M VHB Tape 4646, 1/8" x 5 yards, 1 roll : Industrial & Scientific - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HLY50P8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
