Coolant lines failed Friday night. Woke up to a puddle Saturday morning
Had to jury-rigged a solution
Fuel line cut to size. Hose clamps applied to get rid of pinching.
Working for now
Replacement hoses ordered today, arriving Wednesday
Went back to the RTT life. I said after my last RTT I would never own one again. But with an Alaska trip coming up and no time/want to convert the cruiser back into a camper I decieded to go this route. As far as RTT go, I am pretty happy with it. It has good build quality and is 4.5 inches when shut and relatively light weight. I had a really windy first night and the wind fly was flapping like crazy. Hopefully can get creative with a remedy for that.
I drain and filled the front and rear differentials in preparation of taking the 80 to Overland Expo West. Wish I could say both went without a hitch but I would be lying if I did.
With the rear after I got the drain bolt out I forgot to open the drain hole on my drip tray and gear oil went all over the garage floor.
Onto the front, when I took out the fill plug on the front it burped at me, grease came out of the fill hole. When I got the drain plug out it was nothing but grease that came out mixed with gear oil. So I let it drain for an hour and flushed with fresh fluid and refilled the differential. I am pretty sure the issue stems from a clogged diff breather so I pulled the hose off and let it vent that way.
I am looking at way to move the breathers to higher ground without spending $85 on the ARB kit. Probably just going to get the right size hose and a one way check valve for both the front and rear.
Also, greased the drive lines as well without issue.
In preparation for future trips/needs I ordered a Blue Sea dual USB charger and cable and inline fuse. Not sure where I will install it yet, options are lower dash next to the cigarette lighter or in the coin holder in the center console.

I routed my breather line up along the brake lines and to the back fire wall and installed a small replaceable filter. I also added a short length of tube under it, only a couple of inches. The clamp holds it very securely.
Been a min.
I LS’d (5.3 LM7) my LX450 in 2020. Been very happy. I did a cam swap a little over a month ago and I’m even happier. I did a Texas Speed Stage 2 Low lift cam. Also installed a H3 oil pan, new timing chain and gears, oil pump, water pump, etc. Head work too. Had it tuned and put it on the dyno. 245whp, and 260 on torque at an elevation of 5600’. Very happy with those numbers. Also got my dual battery set up installed. I used a Ruffstuff battery box. Built some legs and used existing mounting spots for the box.

I got that much, using a Baer master cylinder but the deets are what I’m interested in. I was gonna mate a Tundra Master to a 2010 F350 brake booster, then modify the pushrod but curious what others have done besides Marks and Vanco.

I purchased the setup through Sweeting performance about 4 years ago or so. I was not a fan of their customer service. If I did it again I would look for different options and probably put it together myself. The biggest issue is the adapter to the fire wall. They sell just the adapter and then you can put the system together yourself. I also have to install a pedal rod extension.
The Baer master I have is a 1 1/8". The pedal is firm but, I have yet to really drive it to have a good impression on braking and effort. I finally got this on the road a couple of weeks ago and still fiddling with some stuff. The one thing to take into account is the Baer system has the brake modulated mounted under the unit. It is a bit difficult to get to for adjustment. I have a socket and extension for this purpose now.
I added a PSC power steering reservoir that I added as well. Definitely the way to go. I had a tee in the line originally, the pump did not like it and had whine. Now, nice and quiet.
Tore down the FJ80 a bit more for easier install of the engine tranny. Attempted to replace fuel filter while the engine is out but wrong part was sent… oh well. Engine is on dolley for now. Going to replace head gasket and oil pump. And call it good!
