Been thinking of getting these, do you believe they are worth the investment?
I've got a friend with a set. The joints? (mounting brackets?) are really well built and feel solid unlike the OEM mounting bracket.
after trying several different after-market "oem look alikes" that didnt fit or work well, I recently bit the bullet on the Rosen's. They are a bit pricey, but very well constructed and functional and I fully expect they will last a very long time. They did require several tries on tension adjustments before I got them to move the way I wanted, but I consider the fact they were even adjustable as a big plus. I'm contemplating putting a piece of black tape in one corner where I can touch to move it without leaving a big ol thumb print

You know that smell………that effervescent smell…….that 3 day old dropped ass bouquet to the nostrils smell……..it smells…..like….rust free.
It’s time ladies and gentleman……it’s tyyyyme. Also found what I think is a temperature sensor (small metal piece with wires surrounded by a cylinder open at both ends) dangling precariously by its wires. I used a “mystery bolt” from the bench and remounted and secured it right in front of the condenser behind the front bumper. Whoa! It fixed my jumping rpm needle! Must have needed to be grounded to metal. No more jumping rpm needle.

I'm thinking I've gotta start using something like this as ITD started "salting" our roads a few years ago. Do you recommend that brand and is there anything in particular you'd tell someone who has never done it? How frequently do you do it in the winter?

Thanks!

You have numerous lines without clamps and God I hope you do something else with those brackets.

What did I do with my 80? Parked it in the yard and rented this new LC 250 for a road trip up through Grand Teton and Yellowstone with the family!! Pretty sweet rig I gotta say! Nothing like an 80, but cool nonetheless.

There are several brands out there. Fluid film is a good product. Wool wax is another product I have heard about that I think is similar. If you want someone else to do it, see if you can find Krown. It is a Canadian product and is linseed oil based. I had it applied to all of my vehicles before I started doing the rust preventative myself. Krown is a good product, initial cost I think was $250-300 and then yearly top up applications are around $60-70.
If you do the rust prevent yourself, pick one of the products and stick with it. Amazon sells Fluid Film in spray paint cans, also are cans for professional paint spraying equipment. You might even be able to find a gallon can (or bigger) and with a brush, “paint” the FF on. It takes me about 30-40 mins to apply it. It will drip somewhat so wear your wrenching clothing for sure. Eye pro is a must and I would apply in a well ventilated area only or use a paint respirator. I dont think its necessesarily toxic but I wouldnt want to breath in Fluid Film for an extended time. After application, a drive along a nice dusty road will allow dust to adhere to the Fluid Film which IMO is best.
I apply FF when it is warm outside as it allows for better adhesion to the metal. Once or twice a year. Also, FF will not remove rust that is already there. It will only prevent more rust by keeping the metal surface lubed. For rust removal, depending on how bad it is, you would have to use some sort of acid bath or specific product. Not sure if a rust removal product and Fluid Film would be compatible. Research is critical. I have had great results with FF and it is worth the cost and effort IMO.

I really appreciate it. This is high on the list for October. Thanks again.

Been on an almost 3 week 'overlanding' trip. Started in MN with the clock just turning 300K!! So far over 3K miles running around Colorado, a little bit of Wyoming and a lot of Utah. Currently in Denver 🤬. The best part of the trip was people f*cking walking right through my camp in the Dixie National Forest to take photos of the leaves with one lady saying "don't mind me" while geocaching. I even had to stop my time lapse of early morning sun on the trees.. WTF! Does anyone know of any cool Land Cruiser shops around Denver?

It’s alive! been in the shop almost a year, turbos done and running great, got to break in the new engine and get a couple exhaust supports fabed up. Took it for a fill up of premium and gave her a quick bath. Got a dragging front caliper and squeaky shock. Will replace all the calipers and brake lines. This truck sat 4 years before I bought it and a year under my ownership. So lots of quirks to work out. The hood vent is pretty elite!

How's the hood vent working out? Engine bay cooler?

It definitely brings in some cooler air and helps let it escape. Really no way to determine how affective it is. If I put my hand by it after a drive I can feel the heat coming out of it. It can’t hurt that’s for sure.
