The old coolant actually looked great. The PO had the radiator and upper / lower hoses and water pump replaced in 2019. Everything looked pretty clean. The o-ring gasket for the t-stat had seen better days but everything else was in good shape.

Sweet! Came up!I got lucky that it was in stock about 3-1/2 hours away from me in Denver. The short block was ordered by someone else, and when it came in, they decided they didn't want it. I inquired a couple days after that, and jumped on it when they said yeah, you can have it. The two cams (left and right or 1 and 2) were also in stock. The head was in stock in Kansas City, and they had it there with the short block and cams in just a couple days.
If anyone else is looking for a new short block, I was told there's one at a dealership in Bakersfield California.
Otherwise, it can take up to 9-months of waiting to get one once ordered.
