Got my dd back. Started prepping the 89 for my kid to drive

Picked up a new short block, new head, new cams, for the 97. Then headed over to Slee and picked up an ARB winch bumper, which will either go on the 97, or my other 93.

Wow. Was it hard to source it?

I got lucky that it was in stock about 3-1/2 hours away from me in Denver. The short block was ordered by someone else, and when it came in, they decided they didn't want it. I inquired a couple days after that, and jumped on it when they said yeah, you can have it. The two cams (left and right or 1 and 2) were also in stock. The head was in stock in Kansas City, and they had it there with the short block and cams in just a couple days.

If anyone else is looking for a new short block, I was told there's one at a dealership in Bakersfield California.

Otherwise, it can take up to 9-months of waiting to get one once ordered.

Yeah, the math is simple. Just divide by 1.6. But, I hate math. I would rather just look at my little GPS speedometer.
They sell a gauge that's mph for diesel.

I laughed at what you said. I think he drives his car while the speedometer gives him an exam to find the equation for 80 km/h. 🤣

I did the math once and memorized it. I know with my tires 100 is 68
112 is 75
80 is 55

Everything else I just go with traffic.
I've been driving a rhd with kmh for 3 years now....

Also waze in my android auto deck reads speed.

Just a heads up for next time. Those trim pieces unscrew from the corner lights in about 1min. No taping off required!
I learned something new thank you, never crossed my mind to look for screws

Cleaned and water proofed the Alu-Cab RTT on my 80.

I got this tent used from @KiPod and hadn't yet cleaned it after 1.5 years and several uses. The water still beaded nicely on it but it was getting a bit funky.

Vacuumed surface followed by distilled white vinegar, then Dawn dish soap and rinse then let dry.

Then used the Nikwax Tent & Gear Solarwash followed by 2 coats of the Tent & Gear Solarproof.
