looks like the final bit of someone drilling through the diff or axle. Used to call them tophats at my old metal fab job.

mystery solved. was the back of the third member stud holes coming off inside the housing. definitely tophats. oem axle thstd never been opened.
Added carpet (Ocean State Job Lot prices for the win) to the drawers I put together. Drawers offset to accommodate a little 10" under the seat sub right behind the driver-side rear seat

Installed the WOLFBOX G850 4K Mirror Dash Cam, and ATOTO S8 Ultra 10.1 head unit.
Got all the 105 upgrades to rebuild my current steering box from IMPEX. Was just a little over $300 for everything including shipping.
Still tempted to just buy an entirely new box from them and then sell my old w/ these goodies...
