Started building a sleeper setup for my 1991 with the purpose of making my weekend trips to mammoth easier. I've got the basics of it constructed right now. I've got to cut a few more holes so we can access some more of the storage thats not usable right now, and then do some sanding and throw some outdoor carpet on all of it! We got to test it out this weekend and it worked great, but I need to come up with a solution for the condensation at night.

Yes, I was able to get it and a few other things from Partsouq.

Bought it from Aiden James Custom to save $$ and to support a new small vendor instead of from Goose Gear. The lead time was supposed to be 6wks but instead it was 3 months. Similar complaints on Tacoma/4runner forums.

Taking another down to get rebuilt. 468k on original bottom end. Head was done at 250 for preventative maintenance. Cross hatching still visible! Will see what the bottom end looks like.

I remember when I did mine, about half way through the second one, my elbow was pretty much calibrated at 15#!! lol

Well this engine is dead, 3 spun bearings and the oil journals are filled with Babbitting from the bearings. I could possible grind the crank and replace the rods but I would not be comfortable selling this engine to somebody and standing behind it. Some of the bearings pancaked out because they were moving around in the journals so much. You can seat how hot the rods got with the bluish discoloration.

Edit: adding some context this engine lost oil pressure do to the crank bolt not being properly torqued and coming loose by the previous owner.

Replaced crappy rear shocks with OEMs. Fronts next weekend. Broke plastic nipples on VSV assembly pulling off old crusty vacuum hose. Superglue and tiny straw to hold the pieces together working for now…

Installed one of those fancy rearview camera mirrors. Nice little upgrade since any bit of cargo in the back means your rearview mirror is useless most of the time. This one is the Wolfbox G900 with 4k front camera and 2.5k rear camera. Screen can be quickly dimmed by swiping on the screen.

These are normally hang off your OEM mirror but I removed mine and used a Wits End mirror arm & block. I have a custom overhead console so I needed the extra bit of clearance to make everything fit. Mirror is hardwired up at the sunroof controls. Console makes it easy to hide all the wiring.

Camera is mounted up on the rear windshield to replicate the view you get from a rearview mirror. Washer nozzle was bypassed years ago so no worries about blocking it.

Nice visibility at night on my driveway

Mirror has a button underneath to quickly put the display to sleep. Screen is reflective so it almost works like a traditional mirror with the screen off.
