Woke up to a nice amount of snow on the ground! Went out and wheeled through the neighborhood and got the mail while I was out.

Are those brake dust plates brand new? If so, where to find? The rear plates on mine are rust rotted. Thanks.

No they are not new, just nice originals I restored.

Cheers

Depending on the year of your rear end they're being reproduced.

If you use those on an early small disc JDM rear axle you'll need to swap everything over to newer brakes

I got some rears from TT, hopefully they fit, if not, saved for another 80. I can’t find the fronts anywhere.

Just get a kit to delete them and move on. When I upgraded the brakes I tossed em

Replaced the rear axle seal and regreased the bearings.

I also lasered out my own hub gasket.

Is the seal in backwards? I pushed it in deep so it woul use a new seal surface.
Seal is in the right direction. Make sure it's not too deep and off the machined portion of the axle shaft.

We've been getting hammered with snow this season!!

Couple of days later, I went up to the same area to go snowshoeing but w/o the tire chains this time. Tracks were already made by other vehicles, which made it relatively easy for the 80 to plow through. My passenger took two videos of us plowing through the fresh, light powder. The hwy to the top had 1'-2' of snow in some spots.

Video of my dog engaging his lockers to climb out of deep snow!! 😁
