Coming down the road from the ski area that I've driven a million times in a million conditions. Driving normal speed, going around a right curve downhill, and it just slipped. Slid into the wall and pinballed a full 360 (nose first, 180, rear corner, 180). The spin set me right back in the road, straight and under control. Happened in a split second, hardly have a visual memory of it. I'm fine, couple small bruises on my left arm. Pretty damn bummed. I guess we'll see what insurance thinks it's worth, but they'll definitely total it. It is what it is.
Just don't take the first offer the insurance gives you.

Got the d light working. But gotta pull it again cause one of the back lights is finicky now. And finally got. Some real wheeling in with it. Great weekend.

But to keep things on topic, I have been running down an interesting crank no start, no CEL in my build thread.
Might be doing a little more parts cannon than usual since I will have to get this inspected by the 31st

Wtf is wrong with you people

What wall? That sucks. Sorry Spenser. :(

Wasn't sure how to refer to it - I meant the uphill side of the road, natural "wall" of dirt/rock. I'm glad I didnt slip the other direction and go over the edge. There were two other cars that slid off the road - coincidentally, one was this green 100 you may have seen around.

Unfortunately my frame is fairly bent, among other things. And tonight, some wind storm carnage. Luckily, barely missed the house. Fun week around here!

Glad you're ok. Bummed about the 80 dude. You'll be back stronger than ever!

As for the insurance playbook, it'll show the "get bent" scheme, especially for those with truly clean examples. This is the double-edged sword owning one of the very few vintage vehicles that you can still use every day, everywhere.

Accident/theft vulnerability is the 1 thing that makes me want to sell my 80 so I can get out while still ahead.

Accident vulnerability?

Installed a Harrop E-Locker in the front axle a few weeks back (front drive flanges were worn out, bit of backlash from diff center, wheel bearings needed doing, etc) but only just recieved the factory locker dial. It was wired into the factoy harness so the dash light comes on and the transfer case low range interlock works. Fixed the D light while I was installing the rear/front locker light bulbs.

Pretty happy with the result, my GXL is slowly turning into a sahara (added electric auxhillary fan to aircon condenser last year too).

(The front locker is currently wired to the 'R' position on the switch so it will turn on in either position. If I somehow have big chunk of spare cash laying around to put a rear in one day I'll have it wired correctly)
