What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (79 Viewers)

This is a preemptive post for my weekend work. My 80 has an ARB dual compressor and 2.5 gallon OBA tank. I was prepping to remove the lower control arms to replace due to failed hiem joints in the old ones, so I clicked on the compressor and didn't notice that I had hit the rear locker switch in the process. The compressor is running, filling the tank while I put an air chick on my new impact wrench, then- PSSSSSSSSSHHTTTT!

I thought the pressure valve had popped or that I blew the rear locker airline. Apparently the compressor blew the air locker seal assembly and did so with enough pressure to blow the pinion seal on the rear diff, so I have to pull the diff and check the seal assembly and replace the pinion seal.

Anyone hear of this happening before? I'll see what I have when I pull the axles and diff.

Finally getting back to cruisers after hunting season. Tore apart the 94 today will hopefully get pulled over the weekend along with t case and tranny. Engine has blown HG. Will be replacing pistons and boring .50mm over, rebuilt head with 3 way valve grind, New bearings all around, new timing chain and guides, rear main seal, oil pans, arch seal and complete refresh of all rubber in engine bay.

Hey, I finally got around to taking some pictures. When I stopped through Park City on my way south Gene, the owner of Rocky Road, was there and waiting for me. He had me pull my truck into his shop and got down on his back right beside me to help me get these damn things installed. I'm actually really impressed with the build quality. One thing I will note is that these are made specifically for the FZJ80 and there are some dimensions that are slightly different on the FJ80 from 91 and 92. Gene was not aware of this as he's never received any complaints and he's so rarely makes them for the FJ80. While we were installing, he took some notes to make sure that any of the kits going out the door for an FJ80 versus an FZJ80 will be trimmed in all the appropriate places for seamless fit.

I need a set of sliders soon...but first things first (Knuckle Rebuild).

In looking at their site, and this may be a dumb question...but for the full cover sliders are they $969 per side or for the set?
I just need to verify where my 1997 Cat is located ;)

I’m no fabricator but I’ve been need to relocate my Winch Controller. It was originally underneath the wing but last time out it ended up being drug along the rocks.

Bent up a piece of 16GA and bolted to existing holes in the ARB Bumper. Little paint and call it hood.

Went camping a few days in Kennedy / Monache Meadows. Following a local that was cutting through the snow with a 40 series that he bought new back in '79.

Connected the hood LED lamp to multiiswitch connector on aux battery.

Got my 10 year old daughter to work on the car with me, they need to love the car at a young age.

More sorting of electrical mess left previously, rerouted cables for easier access.

Took the fendor off again. I either need a new fendor or to sort out the old one by completely changing how its installed.

The bracket connecting the manifold down pipe to the frame on my rig keeps coming loose and making a terrible rattle. The roads here in Colombia are pretty rough so it shakes loose even when I torque it down. Stopped at a mechanic’s to get a small tack weld put on to secure it and these two old beauties were in his shop.
