Are those the pics of pre-cleaning? How much crud was really removed from behind there?
It does look like you took the time to drill out and replace every rivet. It looks like it was well done! A lot of work, I hope the benefit is there.

There was a bunch of junk in there all new rivets. It makes me feel better knowing what it looked like and seemed appropriate to inspect on a complete rebuild. Are those the pics of pre-cleaning? How much crud was really removed from behind there?

What a sweet adventure! Not 80 specific but I’m down here in Baja with Canguro Racing (racing a 200 series) waiting to leave the start line tomorrow morning. We have the honor and pleasure of also supporting the JAOS racing team from Japan racing a brand new Lexus LX600. In addition to the CEO of JAOS being here along with their driver Tomonori Noto, the head engineer of Land Cruiser development, Sadoyoshi Koyari is here with us and also Mamoru-San who owns about 30 Toyota dealerships in Japan and has supplied 4 master techs for the JAOS team. Been a great time for cruiser fan-boys like the Canguro team.
Now, tomorrow we race!

I guess we should jump on the Bimmer forum. That's what keeps me here. I fit in with the 80 crowd better.Props for calling it a "bimmer" and not a "beemer"... It has 4 wheels. =)

Thank you so much!
I've been freaking out because my glass is cracked and I know it was replaced before with cheap materials and I'm sure they scratched the paint causing that rust issue. I've been worried about opening it up to rusty cheesecloth under there.
Might look ok on the tailgate, depending on rig color...but still, it's just not for me, personally. It’s a no from me, at leaving that location. I think it could look ok applied on the lower body cladding though.
I'd love to read/see the write up for this mod!
For what? You seem to have a plethora of tanks under there......
