Nice, I have been wanting to mount and wire my stinger into the rig for years. I just never get around to it.
Half the police in my area are driving around with this exact same flashlight mounted in their cars. I wonder what the police do to "secure" these lights in case of a wreck
In truth, if you have this light and this mount, you know how tight that spring clamp really is. The crash speed it would take to break it free would likely prove fatal long before the projectile reached the back of my head. Now, you could argue that innocent bystanders in the next county may be at risk...
Very good point. As long as the opening of the mount isn't facing torwards the front of the vehicle I bet you are correct.

I am guessing he just hit his head on the windshield or other part of the vehicle. In wrecks with that much energy anything can happen....

Yeah this was about 2 years. Stopped at a red light and another 5th gen 4Runner plowed into me doing 50mph+. Never even touched the brakes. Drunk, 3x over the legal limit. I don't even remember the impact but when I came to, I remember being on top of the center console, the impact was so violent "I think" it knocked me out of the seatbelt.
The second impact is what caused the head injury. I didn't know it at the time, but the truck was still rolling across a big intersection and hit a light pole. That knocked me into the windshield, also tore off the rearview mirror with my head. You can see how high the blood splatter is, right above the infotainment system. I was pretty much up in the dashboard when the truck finally stopped.
The point of all this. If you're driving a car from the 90s, you're probably gonna die anyways in a violent collision. Every single airbag went off. Modern cars really are marvels of engineering despite feeling cheap and plasticy. So might as well mount flashlights in all the places

Yes and no about the old car thing.
I rolled one of my 80’s. Granted it was only 30mph or so but it rolled nearly two times and every single panel was destroyed. Home made drawers in the back came loose along with other things. Not a single scratch on all three of us or the dog.
Got rear ended just like you in my 2004 Taco DC. This was down in El Salvador on a road trip to Panama. She was doing about 30mph, ya a lot less than 50+mph. However the frame was beefed up and boxed in, I had a super stout rear bumper and also had the tow receiver below that. Taco was lifted as well and she was driving a small sedan like a mid 2000’s Tercel or something. Scratched the powder coat in my rear bumper, that’s it. Completely totaled her car and she had bad whiplash. It was a very hard hit but I am sure nothing like you experienced. We were fine and so was the Taco.

Thanks to mmcinnis for getting these Kut Snake flares to me. Why did I go flares after going flareless for so long? FLARE ENVY! everytime I saw an 80 with stock flares, I regretted patching the stock holes. I dont have the patience to locate the reinstall the original hardware so I went with pockets. I like the aussie look to them.
I do like those flares. The gents that play in the rocks or through tight tree’d trails seem to want them gone, but I think those that see more mud and snow know the merit.
the shiny black colour I don’t know if I’m 100% on board with, would like to see them painted to match.
my 80 is getting one tons and 42’s, I am very slowly in the process of that and modifying the stock flares. Gonna pay a guy who does fibreglass to finish them, I’ve already cut them and put in place to be lengthened. The tires will stick out at least 3” past and mine is a 92 with apparently slightly narrower flares so I’m not so much worried about damage. Planning to use rubber mat along the wheel wells to extend for legal tire coverage

Those orange turn indicators never looked right to my eyes. Cheap Chinese stuff but quality looks as good as OEM. Stuck some decent LED's in them

But, I truly think a lot of modern cars would have been crushed like a coke can from that wreck. Size and mass and a ladder chassis count for a lot in that kind of situation

You are absolutely incorrect and it is truly not even close. 25-30 year old cars are not even in the same ball park as new cars when it comes to safety, ladder frame or not.
That said, the comment that you will absolutely die in a serious collision with a 90s car is simply not true either.
Well if I had to choose to be rear ended by that truck in a 2020 Ford Focus or a 1997 Land Cruiser I'm going to choose the LC every time
