That sounds familiar. I think we all grapple with challenges like that ... and many of us end up with multiple rigs because of it. I look all all the really cool stuff that @jcardona1 and others have done here and immediately want links, 3 piece sway bars, hydraulic steering and coil overs and have to constantly remind myself the truck is supposed to be for exploring, not rock bouncing.
And yeah, I called it "exploring" not "overlanding" because @baldilocks is judgy
If you can show me a way to have a super capable rock/ trail rig and somehow keep my body work from getting bent every weekend without having an exo and without needing to develop a love affair with my welder I'm all in. (Admittedly, maybe I just need to be a better driver, reduce my addiction to the skinny pedal and a lot luckier)
I dunno, I like to think my rig is a happy medium between a decent crawler that is comfortable, driven on highways, is well suited for just camping and exploring and isn't a crumpled sh1tbox

Props for keeping your rig looking that sharp and un-bent, considering some of the photos I see it in!
I've made a deal with my wife not to go nuts - Unfortunately I think I've already broken the deal by doubling my initial budget. Also unfortunate - She knows what things like coil overs and hellfire knuckes are and told me to go and buy a beat to hell trail rig and beat it further if that's what I want to do. Also told me it can't be parked on the street, which means I have to sell something else in order to buy the beater trail rig.

If you search there is 10 plus threads on this, but since we are on here for interaction I will oblige. I did not remove liner, I used a hacksaw blade by hand, once they where all removed I cut down the bolts flush and used a step bit to drill out the nurserts. Some say you can get them stuck in the sunroof rails!! Beware. You may get lucky and they all come out and can use ss bolts with washers and seal it that way. Soak for a couple days with penetrating oil, and apply upward pressure on the rail while removing screws. If you don’t have rust than that would be optimal. For me I will be epoxy sealing and spot painting. The headliner sounds like for 95-97 is a two guy 30 minute removal job. Pre 95 it sounds tougher. Post up some pics what you end up with. Wes
I did remove the headliner after all so we could do it the right way. You also have to remove the sunroof tray/Cassette to get to the front nutserts. Not a huge deal headliner took 45 minutes with a helper and was pretty straight forward. I’ll post some pics of the finished product.
I got a few things finished up this week. Started with a Bowfin rack. This thing is great. I really like the profile. View attachment 2629356
Then I ran the SwithPros wiring behind the dash and finished wiring up the LP6s on the front bumper. These things look and perform great. I really like the backlight feature for DRL. Thanks to @NLXTACY for the SwitchPros mount! View attachment 2629357View attachment 2629358View attachment 2629359
Got out on some local trails for a shakedown ride after my first big round of baseline work was wrapped up. The rig drove great, dirt was fantastic and not too many people out today even though it was a perfect Spring day.

Late entry from weekend before last:
participated in my first Lone Star Land Cruiser Roundup in Mason, Texas. Great event with over 150 Cruisers and Crawlers!! 2 LX’s in our camp. Great to meet Woody, who brought one of his 80’s from Utah! Much fun
For sure! It's easy to get caught up in the Moab fun when in reality I bought the truck to be the ultimate 'exploring' machine and not a Moab specific rig haha. Will have to find the balance!
My rig has become a pretty effective rock climber over the years but I only use it for that when there is no other route. I primarily use it for hunting and exploring. "Going to places only a Landcruiser can go"....and then getting back home without having to walk!
I recently launched my website and to promote it I'm offering a 15% off coupon (coupon code "bh3d15"). I am also offering free shipping through the rest of this month and have been able to lower my prices on almost all of my products. I found a new vendor for the 3D printing filament that sells...
