First sound check on the new Sony and sound ordnance b-8td. Plenty of thump in the trunk, max was too much.

Also scored this for $12 wanted a surface mount, but can’t turn down a good deal.

Good looking out. Yeah I don’t like the way they’re on there at all. Weak ass link. I’m just going to solder them tosh before seats get bolted in
Posi-taps are great for quick set up and testing, and permanent in some instances (tapped my reverse camera, parking brake connects on head unit). Very little impact to the wire your tapping. Nothing is faster to mock up a wiring solution. Using those on about 20 outdoor low voltage landscaping lights at home. Just spendy. Faster than a military splice too.

Headed out for a quick camp overnighter with @Outsane and @Hyup

On the tech side:
replaced the illumination bulbs in these curved switches

bought a new OEM poly steering wheel to replace my gummy leather one (probably will rewrap the leather one and sell it)

added an Element extinguisher to the third brake light housing with @Outsane mounts

finally, I had a wacky heater temp control, so found a thread on here and resoldered these 4 points which had tiny cracks in them. Put it all together and it fixed the issue, now my temp slider works as it should! Erractic Heater Temp Control Fix - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/erractic-heater-temp-control-fix.784215/

Took my 80 to Cruiser Outfitters to service both axles, rebuild the knuckles, install 4.56 gears, ARB compressor, and front and rear ARB air lockers! I also went ahead and utilized the OEM locker switch and got the dash lights wired up. In the end, I am extremely happy and am glad to have a place like Cruiser Outfitters nearby.

Don’t often hear of folks going to 4.56 but if you’re sticking with 35’s I’m sure you’ll be happy. Lockers are game changers!

Nice man! Do you happen to have the part number for the bulbs? I think all of mine are all burnt out.

Then we did this

long story short, major props to @Wermz for throwing in 4.88’s and major bummer that the head gasket went immediately after. A routine backyard top end rebuild was next and somehow I got a 40 as a result. Now my 570 is for sale. Makes sense right?

Ordered the dobinsons drawers from Exit offroad (they have a 200 dollar off coupon right now)
ordered the ironman 4x4 compressor
got my beadlocks in, waiting on lugnuts
received spindles for the swingouts on my rear bumper
just waiting on the water table to be delivered so plate can be cut for the rear bumper..... waiting and waiting.

now..... I wait some more

what a blessing to have a vendor of legendary repute close to home. Enjoy your new toys!

The passenger door lock on the LX has been a total PIA to get the key out of lately...a clear sign that the tumblers are worn out. New LX locks are unavailable, but Toyota locks are still available...just not as a matching set.

I have a complete set of matching locks from Delta (they rebuild new locks so they match the ignition cylinder) for my Cummins 80, and they feel so nice and smooth to use. I wasn’t sure if the Toyota style would work on an LX since the key and locks are an internal/inverse style.

@Delta VS sent me another set to try out in the LX, So I got to work one evening this week.

I am happy to confirm that the Toyota locks for the front doors and ignition swap directly into an LX and work perfectly. The swap was super easy, the most involved part was pulling the door panels off to get access. The second most involved part was figuring out how to break into the LX after I locked the new keys inside the truck ;(

I am going to send my LX locks up to Delta to see if it’s possible to rebuild/re-key them. If that tests out successful, then I’ll send up my LX rear hatch lock and glovebox locks to be rebuilt.

For safety reasons?
I added a hood prop rod as well. After owning my 80 for nearly 25 years, I got tired of replacing the hood struts so I am just using the rod instead.
