The day yesterday turned from warm rain to ice then snow. Thought it was a good time to go out in blowing snow at midnight and try out the new Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws....wow! excellent traction and braking.

man your sons trucks paint is smooooth

Over Thanksgiving weekend we were visiting my parents in Idaho. Figured it was a good time to get a Christmas tree. Loaded up my little brothers quad and headed to the hills. (had permits for 4 trees). Cut trees for my house, my brother, my sister and my parents. My brother and I live in Utah so we shrink wrapped the trees to protect them for the drive back to Utah and tied them to the trailer. Our tree was really tall, but good thing we have a 14' ceiling in the family room.

Then this past weekend the Cruiser got put outside so that my son's truck could use the garage while we built a new front bumper for him. It's not quite finished but darn close.

Not sure a stock height 80 would do this easily. I have a 3 inch lift on 295s and I used my sliders in a couple of times.

It was really not anything too hard for the right build. What is nice it there was a lot of it. Most trails you go all day and have 1 or 2 spots that need lockers etc. but I was in and out of full lock more than a few times. It was fun to get 'stuck' and then start locking one at a time until you get out. Had to wait while a group pulled their 'Rover out of this spot

Ouch that was ugly

Damn am I loving this thing! It looks so good! The steering is really interesting after driving a 200 for the last 80,000 miles but man am I falling for this old cougar!

Damn, that makes me want to get a paint job

I spent two days bringing the paint back. Used a buffer and meguiars “ultimate compound” then their Gold Wax and the buffer, finished off with micro fiber towel.

Wasn’t the weekend but it showed up this morning at 7am.

Shout out to @98 SNAKE EATER for the tip on how to get my OEM topper to fit on the dorkel.

@mreedbmwm3 this is exactly how I would have built my LX if it were bone stock when I bought it! Great looking rig!

Its triple locked actually and I rarely use the front or the rear for that matter this was a gulley of soaked red mud. locker wouldnt have helped.

Saw you spinning in the mud, but obviously locked on the rock...you don't think locking in the mud would of helped?

Made it home and got some stuff in the mail from tnutz.com

Used some aluminum 2x1.25 C channel I had in my garage plus the tslot extrusions. Made a little guide for the holes and went to town!

At the end of the day this is what I ended up with.

It also worked out well doing it this way so I could use the front runner rack mounts that came with my awning.

I ended up spacing the crossrails 6 inches on center from the ends, and every foot from there. Vertical ones on the ends. I used the 51inch pre tapped t slot bars, so the overall width is 53.5 inches now. I just have to make a front wing for it.
Used the @reevesci gutter mounts again! Sturdy stuff, I can stand on it. I just have to paint the gutter mounts again since I scratched the hell out of them after handling them so much.

This was alot of work. But I like working on my stuff and tinkering. It is very fulfilling!
