Hit the 505 end to end, she hit back, saw a moose, broke some stuff, got stuck(driver error), made some new friends. Strong pucker moment on the Eldora end around a half mile in.

What the heck! I did the whole 505 in friday! What day were you there? I just got back from 3000 miles of California/Nevada/Utah/Colorado/Wyoming/Idaho/Utah/Nevada/California with my son. Destroyed my front diff internals somehow. Took off the front driveshaft and drove 800 miles with scary grinding whenever I hit the brakes.(yes I am sure it's in the diff) Gunna pull it apart and and post pics in the morning for your viewing displeasure.

Won't a "Halon" extinguisher work on an electrical fire? I know they are spendy but worth it if so.
Halon hasn't been manufactured in the US since '98. Also, it's for a more sealed environment. Like you said, it displaces O2. That can't happen out in the open. As far as being in a room when it goes off, humans won't survive. You can't just hold your breath and wait it out. It doesn't work that way. A CO2 extinguisher is ideal for auto fires as its good for flammable liquids and electrical fires, but are expensive. Dry chemical ext. are good for those too but are highly corrosive to anything metal if it's not washed off almost instantly.

You weren't in a pair of 4Runners, were you? Only trucks I saw up there were the 2 that pulled me out. The 505 runs from Eldora, CO, behind Caribou Open Space, then back out to Highway 7 between Nederland and Allenspark.

Tried to catch the tail end of the Orionid meteor shower with the camera in the early morning last Friday and Saturday. Not much luck, got to settle for the sunrise instead:

Where is this fun road? PM me if you don't want to share with everyone.
It was an offshoot of Soda Springs Rd.
Ran it from Soda Springs to Forresthill. The road itself is easy, but has some great vistas. We checked out a couple of these side trails that made for a fun day trip.

IIRC, you're a Pinecrest guy, right? I'll probably head up to Pinecrest peak for a little snow wheeling after the first storm. Let me know if you're interested.

Nah, we camp at Pinecrest every year, but I actually live near the Santa Cruz Mountains. I thought that road may have been around here.

Put the 80 on some serious trunk or treat duty. Happy Halloween!!

Not really Halon in not very or not effective unless a closed area and what Halon does get between the fire and material until your Halon is gone and then the fire continues. Bottom line you need to kill the source to stop an electrical fire. With the high amperage dual battery system many of use be safe and carry cable cutters and a F.E.. Keep in mind you can weld with one group 27 or 31 battery.
yes,yes you can my battery turned my battery hold down clamp into a welding rod.

A buddy of mine was working under the hood and connected +'ve on a tool in his hand with -'ve on his gold wedding ring. He melted the ring into his finger.

Dr said he was lucky it was gold, they can cut that off and save the finger. If it had been titanium (popular for wedding rings in the US these days) they would have had to take his finger off.

I no longer wear my wedding ring when wrenching.
