Made it to Estes park :). We no more than got everything unloaded and it started pouring rain. The last 45mins of the drive was a little sketchy and I about got side swiped by an RV . I'm not looking forward to the drive out. Stock gearing and 315s is just terrible at this altitude. I planned on swapping eventually down the road, but it's probably going to happen much sooner with my yearly trips out here.

Drive it with the Power button on whenever climbing hills and also downshift when you need to. The 80 engine was built to run at high RPMs and it will not hurt to do so for long periods of time. Just keep it out of the red. They were originally fork-lift engines and ran at high RPMs all day long.

I was bored so I checked out the SQOTD: Stupid Question of The Day thread in the 200 series forum. If 100 series owners are required to wear Tommy Bahama shirts then what is the equivalent for 200 Series owners?!?!

Good to know. I've been giving 2nd gear a workout and I was kind of worried about revving it too high. I pretty much just leave it in 2nd most of the time in the mountains and it's working rather well as long as something doesn't stop my momentum at the bottom of an incline.

This was my old method of containing my garbage in my 80.

Thanks to Joey at Wits' End, Solutions for Problems You Didn't Know You Had I no longer have to drive around an 80 Series (or any Land Cruiser) that looks like the inside of a minor league locker room! The refuse containment system is spot on!

And the axle rebuild tshirt is pretty awesome too!

Happy birthday to me!

Took a run out to Key Largo. My thinking was that since we were in Miami, might as well go the whole 9 yards. Shish it was a 3.5 hr drive from Miami Beach.

Parked next to this cruiser (mine is on the left). Very cool truck. Nice lift and sliders. Met the owners kid but not the owner.

This what my truck wants to be when it grows up....:flipoff2:

Looking shinny!!

Holy crap, the FSM say to the instrument panel and lower the steering column to remove the blower. I think I'll just see what the shop vac can get.

Okay, that was stupid easy. Just follow the directions in this thread.

Clean that AC / Heater Blower

Mine wasn't bad, but I sure hate mesquite trees.

My plan worked out exactly how I wanted it to. The hole for the antenna was almost exactly big enough for the 3/4" Heyco plug to fit through to flexible watertight Heyco conduit. It runs up the snorkel to my roof rack for my roof lighting and solar.

And as expected, it was a freaking pain in the a$$ to reach.

Some overdue external care for the HDJ80.

Wash, clay-bar, minor polish, two coats of carnuba wax. The only saving grace with 104 degree heat today, was the cool concrete of the carport. Do the detailing about once every two years, and pleased with the results...buff out most of the trail pin-striping, and get rid of the junk which gets embedded on the lower half of the truck. Still looks and cleans-up great for a 21 year old vehicle.

Continued my lap of southern Florida and stopped off in Sanibel Island. Such a beautiful place to visit.

Finished the day in Sarasota. Time for beer and something to take the itch out of my collection of mozzy bites.

Thank god for kids with skinny arms!

I knew this was going to be tedious, but good lord!

I must be slow because the drivers side floor took me two hours.

I'll ban the family from riding in the cruiser if they ever mention the hot floor ever again after I finish.

Then got hit with a hail storm like I've never seen or heard of. 4 inches of hail and lightning everywhere.

Then it cleared.
