Some of the group loves to cook and Im thankful they do. With some light rain morning breakfast consisted of sausage, bacon, eggs, french toast w/real CDN syrup, tortillas, and coffee. Beats my instant maple oatmeal and bananas

I'm installing a new stereo head unit Kenwood 9903s , 4 speakers, 1 12 inch subwoofer and amp for the sub and 2 cameras one for the front and one for the back . I got all the lines run from the front to the back . The one that took me the most time was the tail gate wiring . I disconnected the 2 wires from the connection that goes to the license plate light and pulled it through the rubber boot that free up room for the rca connect to go through . I didn't see a way to get to the boot hole from the inside so I drilled a hole big enough to fit the rca through . I put it right above the boot hole . I put a bend in the cable as I feed it through and I got really lucky and it landed right in front of the hole and I pulled it on through . I noticed there is a rubber piece that the wire came into that metal box but I would have let down the spare to get to it but I didn't need to .So now I have my backup camera going through the boot . I looked at a bunch of cameras and the wires that connected them . I think this type is the best because it has the power wire inside the rca cable that runs all the way through it to the other end so all you do is ground one black wire and connect the other to the red power wire coming out of the cable . It also just connects and disconnected so if something happens to the camera you just reconnect another one . I went with the Vehemo for 32.00 dollars on amazon that has the same exact specs as the 170.00 camera cruchfield sales . for the front camera that going inside the grill out of sight I went for the Amotus 15.00 camera ,both have the adjustable angle . I will probable never use the front camera but my radio has a plug in for one and all you do is pusg a button and it will come on so I figured why not . I like the adjustable angle for the back so when I get ready to hitch up the boat I can get a good view of the hitch . both have infrared leds. I was reading the reviews on the camera and it seems with all of them water gets in and they are shot so I put a some clear silicone around all the cracks where they are put together and around the outer edges of the lens and around all the leds where there was quit a bit of space for water to get in ,so its all sealed up now . They say water proof but they are not even close to it so don't just install them seal them up first and they should last a long time . You know how they say measure twice cut once ,well I should have measured the Woofer size on the rear panel before I ordered a 12 inch woofer. It was on sale at cruchfield with the free grill for 129.00 . I wanted this speaker because it has a 4 ohm dual coil . When you run it in parallel you get 2 ohm so you can get a lower powered amp . If you run the speaker at 4ohms you need 450 watts to run it but if you run it at 2 ohm you only need 212 watts so the JVC KS-AX201 for 65.00 dollars the has a max of 500watts runs RMS 250 watts at 2 ohm ,which is the same RMS as the Polk MM1240 DVC. I got so caught up in specs and cost 195.00 for both amp and speaker I didn't even measure the space it was going in . Its a lot bigger than I though . I'm going to have to cut my removable door a little bit ,but I'm getting rid of the compartment behind it any ways so the amp will fit so I don't mind cutting it a little to make it fit. I'm going to use the packing foam to help support it . Here are a few pics . Had to get towed home by..............a Jeep.

Had to replace the battery AND the starter. The battery was actually last week, but the starter left me stranded Thursday night. Had to work late.....went out to move the truck and only click and whirrrrrr, click and whirrrrrrrr.

Installed a new starter from O'Reilly. Works very well. Planning on rebuilding my old one and putting it on the shelf. I couldn't even turn the starter drive on the old one by hand. I'm guessing it is original at 252K. I am also guessing the starter drive broke. I'll open it up and see what I find......

Isn't there an oil filter adapter mod to use a Ford adapter that eliminates this problem? I have not done it but have read up on it enough to consider it. I just like using the large oil filter instead of the small one.

And since that sealant is for roofs, it must be UV resistant too.

I just went with the Dorman from Advance since they had it in stock and I didn't have to wait it has a lifetime warranty and it was only $40 not that big of a thing to have to replace if it fails the one I replaced I got when we were in Africa and it lasted a few years it was a no name one so willing to take the gamble on a rebuilt dorman.

For a couple months now, I've noticed a pinging from the driveline when I would shift into D or reverse, usually when cold and the idle is high. First I thought it was the lash in the front diff since I replaced that several months ago, then I worried it was low on diff oil, but after some searching and whatnot it looks like it might be u-joints. The other time it would happen is when backing into or pulling into a parking space or making any tight turns.

So last night, while there was still light, and rain, I put the front axle on stands and slid under to remove the front DS. It's my understanding that with the TC in neutral, the DS should spin, correct? Well it didn't, I even threw the trans in N as well, no dice. I was able to get the hardware off without spinning it, but that was a bit frustrating.

Drove around and was reminded how nice it is without the DS connected! Made me consider going PT but we'll see. Anyhow, going to replace the u-joints and grease the zerk on the shaft and see how it goes.

Oh and I replaced the D/S side mirror, but I'm not happy with it as the mirror glass gives a wavy image. Alas, for now it will work. While in the door I redid the wiring to the speaker since it would cut out when you look at it. Whoever did the install did a poor wiring job to say the least. Added new wire and heat shrink (wanted to use my waterproof stuff but couldn't find it) and added dielectric grease to the terminals after cleaning them up with sand paper.

There's almost no vapor barrier plastic left on the door, I have seen people use dynamat or similar there, does anyone have experience with insulating the doors?

nope Something to do with oil pressure. If I crank it without starting for 15 sec no start up rattle. Engine Pre Lube System Insta-Lube Kit for the win next.

Got tired of all the rain so went and found some snow.

It started out easy.

Then it got deep and started snowing heavily, but we pushed on...until things literally went sideways.

Aaaand I buried 'er up to the axles.

Engine, transmission, transfer case back into the truck. Now waiting on the injectors so I can put the top half back together again. After that, I will re-install all the electrical/wire loom with appropriate insulation from the engine bay heat. I am officially overwhelmed with the rebuild, but the FSM and MUD have come through for me yet again. One small step at a time. Oh, and I figured out how to use a torque wrench.
