I took her on her longest trip so far; about 465 miles round-trip. From one fill-up to another I drove 317.8 miles (about 90% of that on interstate at 70 mph/2,200 rpm) on 20.7 gallons, for 15.35 mpg.

Hahahaha The one and only Sutter Creek Pick-n-Pull! Yeah poor old bessie ended up there in the meantime to live with the other field of hopeless 60s!

G and Kevin are going to pick her apart (axles and t case) since the heads off Bessie ended up on Doms buggy. So the Hoopty kind of lives on!!! The 80 needs more ricey straight pipe in Bessies honor!

Solid plan. You've got the hooligans for it. :)

My 80 remained parked in the driveway and we took my wife's car to the hospital to have our first baby! Meet Sylvia. View attachment 1361188

Sorry it's not 80 related but it will be because she will be riding in it often!

Congrats! Your 80 will get a lot less attention from now on but she will be fine.

I got to drive my new rig for the first time !!! I have a long list already, not limited to a valve gasket ASAP and shakey mirror syndrome;)
I will have to put it storage for the winter next week (no garage). She does not have a name yet but here is a a picture from this morning in Vermont.

Storage?!?! Why?!?!
I dont have a garage, or the time to get it ready for Brine season AKA winter. The rig is from California with very little rust. I will spend some quality time next summer prepping it for next winter. I dont have a place to keep it here. next fall I will dose the undercarriage with bar and chain oil. I am low on cash after the puchase, so I can't pay for any mechanical work now. I can buy parts and get ready to wrench for a few heavy weekends to get my oil leaks under control.
