White. And that's what I'm thinking...I like it, last pic middle one I think is best if you like gloss. What color is your rig?
In what sense? Don't have a 3FE to compare, really only have worked on the 1FZ, so if you say it's hard, I'm going to pat myself on the back extra hard.![]()
Just a lot of hassle to do things. Replacing the valve cover seal required removing plastic covers and throttle body. Not so on the 3FE.
The spark plugs are buried vertically so it requires an actual spark plug socket instead of a 16mm deep well socket. Just stupid stuff.
I'd have the valve cover, plug seal, plugs, wires, dist cap, and rotor done and driving it by now if it was my 3FE.
I think the lighter color might go well with a white body. I know i'm not a fan of blacked out rims on 80s, nor chrome!I like the browner one in the back, would look great with a white rig?

I hate that you have to take the TB off, true, especially with the coolant hoses that invariably leak all over the floor. I don't know how it is on the 3FE, but getting to spark plug #6 and/or the DS rear two valve cover bolts is a pain. Unscrewing the heater valve from the firewall helps, but if you haven't replaced it recently, you better have a spare on hand and some hose in case it/they decide to crumble. Basically both times I've done plugs/seals I've just taken the airbox out to crouch in the engine bay. (Odd muscles hurt the next day.)
This spark plug socket is easy and cheap, has worked well for me: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0074HNKI6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
To me the other hassle items with the 1FZ so far are belts (if your various bolts don't come loose easily and/or you have actual forearms), fuel filter (haven't done this yet, don't think I can reach the damn thing) and PHH (reach may also be a problem).
OTOH I've found things that are theoretically rated as harder like dizzy O-ring or defeating EGR/removing PAIR to be really easy. Win some, lose some.
I need to do the PAIR and EGR delete on my 93.
Did you replace the coolant line that goes into the bottom of the TB? It goes to the same area as the phh, mine was actually worse (bulged) than the phh. It was just about as fun as the phh too lol.I just ended up using a 5/8" socket. F&$% Mr. T!
I got the plugs out and called it a night. I think I'll tackle the throttle body and valve cover in the morning.
I replaced the heater control valve as soon as I got it home. So no worries there. I undid the two bolts holding it to the cowl and pushed it out of the way.
The 3FE is just easier. More room. Less electronics. Less stuff. I need to do the PAIR and EGR delete on my 93. I deleted the EGR on my 3FE.
Pair is easy, I listed out the parts you need in my Luigi build thread, and it creates a ton of space on the PS side of the engine when you take all that crap out (although the stainless air tube is really a thing of simple, well-made beauty when you look at it off the truck). As to EGR, As long as it's a federal 93 and not a CA one, pretty straightforward to defeat by just turning around some vac hoses. (Marginally more difficult if it's a CA/has a temp sensor, but not much.)
Oh, btw, it's easier to get to the back VC bolts if you take the EGR modulator out. So you can pretty much start disabling EGR right then.

I blocked off the PAIR so I could add my second battery. But I haven't completely deleted it the correct way with block off plates. My guess is that I have a CA spec 93 since it was a one owner in CA. Haven't taken the time to research it. Need to.

You SC guys are on the struggle bus WAY too often (and, er, at length) for me to go there.Get a SuperCharger. Don't have to touch the TB![]()
