What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (60 Viewers)

Finally got the front and second row vinyl installed! It was time consuming but worth it. I really like how it turned out. I will do some more finish trimming to take out creases once it relaxes a little when warmed up. As always @reevesci aka Jason aka Trail Tailor had awesome customer service/support to help me out along the way.

Added bonus my 93 has a "new car smell" instead of "dead hooker/raccoon orgy" smell.

I was really hoping to do my cloth manual seats at the same time but they aren't ready yet. The leather power seats suck!

Didn't put the second row seats in as I'm going to wait until I get my cloth from Land Cruiser Heaven. Plus I like not having the second row seats.

Cleaned the disgusting rear heater while I had everything apart. Had to scrub it with a toothbrush to get it clean. Gross.

I insulated underneath the heater and on the transmission hump. So I had to trim the center console to fit the rear heat vent.

A little more play in my back yard. A couple shots on the famous vista point at the top of Cadillac hill, Rubicon. The Marlin crawler event was in full swing at Rubicon springs. A pretty mellow gathering with lots of welding and carnage repair going on. As we rolled past a group of young men standing beside the trail one of them said to his companions "it just looks so marshmallowy"! Lol! the 80 is very unassuming but turns heads nonetheless and Is certainly a sleeper.

My wife and I laughed because jealousy of the real deal can't be concealed. The vast majority of rigs on the rubicon that are not heeps are 4runners and mini's. I have had numerous offers for my axles. The youngsters building mini's love 80 axles for the upgrade without out the price tag and width of tons.
Just for the record we have a member right here on mud who calls his 80 The Marshmallow".
I did run into one other 80 at the Marlin Crawler event and we talked for at least an hour.

Me neither. I drive thru something like this every hunting season and you are not likely to get through it without lockers. A heavy duty winch is probably a good idea as well!

Brought it up to the Samoa Dunes in Eureka for some beach time. Then winched out a brand new $75K Duramax Denali that buried themselves while absolutely gunning it in 2HI... Good times were had by all.

Same deal on Slickrock a couple weeks ago: jeeps and stuff struggling to get over stuff. We just crawled through it.

Heavy weights are bad mouthed even here on Mud but at low speed, my experience is that 3 tons plus coupled with smooth torque has its advantages like traction.

Finished up repairs on the engine wiring harness, changed valve cover gaskets, cleaned and regapped plug, new cap and rotor, cleaned the EGR, ETC. LX drives nice now.

He can chime in what/where he bought, we tossed the bags they came in.

I don't remember what they where from. Just went to the parts store, looked at the brake hose book and found numbers for ones that where longer. Sorry, I don't have numbers or applications on the ones we used.

So yesterday Jose and I made a "easy" run up Blackwoods Canyon and Ellis Peak with our families. The objective was to get into the fresh fall air and see if any of the trees had started to change color around Lake Tahoe. We started at the Kaspian Campgrounds just off the lake and headed up Blackwoods Canyon. While this trail was not "hard" it was allot of fun and had a few challenging spots and great views of the lake.

Once we reached Barker Pass at the top of the canyon we ran into Baldilocks who was on his way out after camping for the weekend with his wife. After some quick "shop talk" we were on our way down and past bear lake and over to Ellis Peak. A short time later we were at the end of the trail (some went further then others....) and we made a quick hike to the top and then enjoyed lunch in the shade with an amazing view of Lake Tahoe.

An awesome day was had by all and reminded me that the trail doesn't always have to be "challenging" to be allot of fun.

I have done this with my truck more times than I can count, in fact, I think my entry to this thread a few months ago was about it. It makes me laugh every single time. You can see the guys in-credulousness in your picture displayed by his "hands on hips" demeanor.
