Trying to decide on a pair of 12 Ton jack stands.

The price is the same on both the Harbor Freight and Torin Big Red.
They are both made in China.

HF pair is slightly higher at it's minimum and maximum height. 19.5" - 30.1/8" vs Torin at 18.5" - 28"

I'm thinking the HF would higher and safer at it's minimum setting as I probably won't have to raise at all.

Which ones should I get? @ToyotaDon @JaketheSSnake

After using my Big Red 2 Ton jack stands raising the front end of my 80, like an idiot, I tend to trust the Big Red brand. Nothing happened. Still intact. Or maybe they did not really exceed their specs as only one wheel was off the ground, so it's possible no more than 2000 lbs were resting on the stand.

2 ton stands on the front end of an 80 is incredibly scary! You don't need 12 ton stands, a good set of 6 ton is plenty. Look at the difference between my 3 ton redundant HF stand in the center of the axle and the yellow 6 tons on the end. Also...I do like my performance tool 6 tons Amazon.com: Performance Tool W41023 6 Ton Heavy Duty Jack Stand set: Automotive

Only way I'd go with Torin is if they were the pin lock variety...those are pretty sweet!

They don't have the double lock mechanism.
I think Torin does not make the 12 Ton stands anymore. It's probably old stock wherever it's being sold.

@ewillis
I was thinking about the 12 Ton ones mainly due to their minim height being so... high.

Look at the min height on the pic I embeded...it's only 2 or 3 teeth engaged...pefect to lift an 80 with 35s.

We had a great time wheelin on the mountain.

Not mine...this time. That's @jtwopark's 80 and he's in the middle of turning it into a Korean nail salon and spa.

Didn't realize your Korean was good enough to help out with the electrical buildout for the salon, nice job. Please be sure to install a plug for the belt sander. Some bunions need serious work.

Got home from working out of town, drove Comet to the hardware store, bought a hummingbird feeder for the :princess:, went home and drained every #6 in the joint.
