Crossed our first creek of the season

Tune up, new plugs, wires, coolant hoses including the infamous PHH, wth....starter and power steering pump... Now to tackle the oil leaks, then on to the fun stuff lift and tires coming soon.

You get out too much. You should stay in more.

The average man gets 4000 weekends in his life time. Once they pass you loose them and they are not replaceable no matter how much money you have.;)

Finally got my hood blacked out! Thanks to Overlandbound for the tips.... Dulicolor bedliner worked out way better than the satin black I first tried out with. Way more forgiving.

I bought the new OEM Steel key blanks on eBay for $13ea and have them cut at a local lock and key business for a few bucks each. There aren't any chips in these trucks for the keys so it's pretty easy.

I went by the dealership first and they told my vehicle was too old for them to cut the key. I don't think they had the older key blanks which are longer and wider than the current keys.
The dealer in Placerville, CA supplied the blanks and cut them for me for $10 each.

I followed the procedure linked here:
Bedding In Brake Rotors

"bed" or "seat" new front brake pads?
Wow, that is almost the opposite of what I had been told before. I guess protecting the new rotors from heat shock is the only common link. I only drove her to the airport this morning and in this neck of the woods that means I managed 4 0r 5 mph on the I405. I can play around with this concept when I come back on Friday.

New OEM Toyota keys cut.

Replaced rear lift gate latch that was rusting out.

New BFG AT KO2's 285/75/16.

I bought the blanks on eBay for $13ea and had the local locksmith cut them for $5ea. They came out great!

On Saturday ran the Hewitt Canyon Trail/Montana Mountain loop. Missed out going with the CSC crew, managed to go later in the day. Shot everything with my S7 Edge and was playing around with it's video editor. Never done it before but thought it turned out ok. Forgot to change the settings so its not at its highest HD setting. There are a lot of short vid sections that give a good idea of the trail. Still photos at the end. I know one was out of order but it's pretty accurate as the trail goes. Threw some U2 in there, wasn't quite sure how to do it but good enough.

I don't have the link handy but there is one that was built by AJIK last year. I've been asked to bring it back to life. I'll have more info coming soon. I'll post up as soon as I track down the link here on MUD.

Do u have a link on that swing out tire carrier?

I 2nd that request ... having just the swing out would be sweet and not have to buy a completely new bumper !

Worked on sorting out a drive line vibration. Greased all slip yokes and u joints. Rear shaft was a little dry. Took it for a spin, but the vibes were still there. Back in the garage, I removed the rear shaft. Two of the flange bolts were loose. U joints felt smooth as glass, and no play, so the shaft went back in. Another drive, and problem solved. Checked the diff fluids while I was under there; all is good.

Went down a washed out back road, and got to use 4wd...

Question... I checked for play in my pinion flange, while the drive shaft was out. Stake nut is tight, and there is no play. Good sign. With the parking brake set, how much should I be able to rotate the pinion back and forth? There is much more movement than I'm used to seeing in my previous Toys (with 8" diff's). Is this normal on the 9.5" rear?

I'm stuck with only 2000 right now. :( Hope that changes soon.

BTW, is there anything I can do to help you remember the difference between "loose" and "lose"?

Not much hope for the uneducated at this point. It does bother me at times but not enough to hire someone to proof my IH8Mud post.
