So, "what did you do with your 80 this weekend" is considered tech?

We are all adults here. For the most part we all learned early on in life how to take care of ourselves. Believe me, plant of members here quickly put the lid on anyone who takes a step in the wrong direction.


And let's not forget, since it was mentioned that we are all guests in the owner's house: without members this site would be nothing. So there would be an empty house without any guests, paying or not.

This begs the question then, is this topic fit for the tech section?
It has nothing to do with tech. I f I take my 80 out for a ride I can post here and truly be on topic. If I gas it up and report it here, I would still be on topic. If I take a picture while driving my 80, I would not be off topic. If I have a beer with my 80... well you get my idea. Right?

What am I not getting here?

Sorry if my post that got deleted made you guys uncomfortable. I spend a good portion of everyday in a swimsuit and I'm from Hawaii, so I'm less uptight about that I guess. Didn't mean to offend. It's just if I do anything with my Land Cruiser, 90% of the time I am in a bikini since it's primarily used for exploring beaches, and this is the thread for what our weekend adventures were with our LCs. Again, sorry for any offense taken.

Working on a chicken run with my daughter. Carried some random supplies for said project randomly on the 80.

Also, a male Cardinal has become very attracted to the 80 and is all over it every time I park in this spot.

No need to apologize. There are a lot of threads on here and the moderation is hit or miss. I've been gigged on stuff before and then watched other people post the same things later and nothing happens. I wouldn't want to have to sit around on my Sunday and police through other peoples writings and decide what's appropriate and what's not. So for that I appreciate @Romer taking the time out of his day to help with the website.

On the other hand I don't see why anybody would be getting upset about you posting your pictures. Me and the guys at the firehouse thought they were great by the way This thread is titled "what did you do WITH your 80 this weekend" not "what did you do TO your 80 this weekend". If you took it hunting, fishing, to the Home Depot, out to aunt Fran's house, or down to the beach to take some nice photos, that's all stuff you did with your 80. This thread had 943 pages and most of them have pictures of stuff that is loosely to not at all related to 80 series tech. So what, its obviously one of the most enjoyable and most viewed threads on here for that very reason.

We generally don't read posts or even moderate threads unless they get reported. That forces us to read/review and then we have to update the reported post to show it was resolved or escalate it

There is a lot more chat in this section then there use to be. The rules, listed under the help tab at the top under terms and conditions state

We try and do our best and try to be consistent, but unless someone reports it, we often don't read most of the posts. We have jobs like everyone else here and when we come on we come to do the same thing you do, read other posts to see what is going on. Getting involved in reported posts is not something I enjoy.

half k cruiser said it really well. It's the most popular topic here. We all ask appropriate tech question in the appropriate topics, or simply create one after performing an extensive search.

Chat is different animal that most 80's members do not dare to look at. This is by far the most civilized and relaxed (mostly on topic) thread in the 80's section. And I really want to emphasize "civilized". It really is. I do frequent Chat and i know the difference.

I really thought AlohaJen was the one offended here. But it looks like I was wrong.
My wife told me I should man up and not be uncomfortable about the pictures she posts here.

I'm far from a rust expert so I will defer to your judgment. I just can't wait to get it fixed, the old license plate I have wedged in there to keep debris from being launched into the cabin isn't going to cut it for long.

Good deal. Just be sure to address whatever water ingress caused it in the first place.

I did this very thing on my daughter's Cherokee without fixing the water ingress and it accelerated the rust out process.

I did it on my cruiser and immediately went after the water ingress, and it is holding up fine, so far (crosses fingers).

After discussions with management, it was decided that is not the best course. It would be a moderation nightmare
