Took the plunge and replaced one of the most neglected cruiser items.

Behold! That which is new window belt molding. Thanks Beno!

I didn't know these were still available. Do you have a part# as mine are getting quite irritating when they scrape my forearm this time of year?

Well, the Cruiser got some bigger shoes...
The 37" kind last week.
These are a big 37, they are 36.9" off the rig with 35psi.
ST Maxx on 4Runner wheels.
Im still in the process of fitting these big meats.
A 3 pound hammer will be my friend.

Good luck on the fitting. I had to pull a section of rear flares and fold the last 4 inches of the rear wheel arch a little to allow my 37" IROK Swampers to fully stuff with 3" extra on bump stops. I extended the rear LCA's 1/4 inch when I sleeved them. On the front I get a little rub on the lower control arms and one of the inner flexible brake lines before I replaced it due to snagging during a hard right stuff.:bang: Fortunately a couple of vice grips on the flex line got me back to civilization.

I don't. HOWEVER, I just shot beno an email, he got back to me ASAP, I told him what I needed, "window belt molding" and bingo/boingo donezo.

I will say they are not cheap but I figured they lasted 20 years so all things considered, not bad.

I ordered hood and rear hatch struts from CruiserYard aka Jason aka @arcteryx. Cant beat the service and price. Had them in a couple of days. Took me 5 minutes to install. I completely forgot to post it on here it was so simple.

A closer inspection reveals that one of the c clips on the front Ujoint was missing. So back to the shop, where they find a clip that would work and reballance it with even more washers

Note that the factory clips are different thicknesses and this is how toyota sets up the joints to have just enough play, but not be too tight.

if they used one that is too thin (I've seen cheap joints come with clips that are less than half OEM thickness) it'll allow too much play.. I'd get under there and push the joint around to see how much wobble it has. they may have nailed it.. but maybe not.

Any mod necessary? Factory one just decided to take flight when I raised it yesterday.

Nope pretty straight forward, removed the stocker and run the new one. There is a hose/tube from the passenger side that comes out to the engine that's where I put the new antenna cable thru to go to the radio.

In my ongoing effort to make the 80 behave better on the highway, I started jacking up wheels and checking for play. I had previously found a loose wheel bearing in the front (lock washer not locked and things started backing out - that was scary). So after getting the front back in order, and still some wandering, I started on the rear. I found some play in right rear, and a weird "clanking" noise as I worked the tire back and forth.

So, yanked the tire, pulled the caliper, pulled the disk, and found an old rusty brake pad backing plate floating between the disk and the brake backing plate/dust cover. Sweet.

Confirmed that my play was in the hub, so yanked axle and adjusted bearings. Had a stripped stud on the hub. Noticed that my e-brake lever was stuck in full engagement position. Worked on that for a while, and got it to about 90% travel. E-brake works on both sides now... crazy. Put it all back together. Repeat on the other side, except I have already been into that side, so just did bearings. Wallowed a wheel bearing lock screw on that side because I got in a hurry.

Found a broken exhaust hanger right at the resonator. Made another attempt at fixing my exhaust leak, then called it a day. Got up in the morning and drove it - the bearing adjustment made a huge difference, and it drives much better now. Ordered some more parts to continue the saga.

It wasn't the weekend.... you can give me 50 lashes later.
I had fun today shooting some silly how to vids, just having fun with the LX & I'm out...
Enjoy!

Damn that looks good! Good thing I'm sticking with 35s and too lazy to do all the work for 37s.

That made me laugh "get a hammer and beat it"

I'm hoping this solves my temperature issue. Will slap it on this weekend sometime between brewing beer and house projects.

Did some garage style fabrication and made a fuel can carrier. It looks pretty good as long as you don't look too closely.

That is highly impressive and prevents tampering with the contents of your gas cans! I have the same Slee bumper you have with all of the same gear on it. Did you draw up designs for this device? I can see it is welded directly to your ladder. Would you mind sharing more photos as well as the designs? Really nice job!

Thanks for the compliments.
It is actually bolted to the ladder and mounted on hinges so it can swing out and the ladder can still be used. Slee sells a fuel can holder but it blocks the use of the ladder.
The only drawings are in my head.
I will post a few more photos when I get a chance.

I have the Slee can carrier. It wedges up against my 35 inch spare pretty badly so I am looking for another option. More pictures would be helpful. If I can better see what you have done, I'll draw it up and figure out the dimensions myself. Much appreciated and great design work on your part.

New starter...cold weather one. Back on the road now!
