Noob here. I just picked up my girl (Layla) from ACC Garage for her first major assessment and repair since her acquisition in July 2015. She was a single owner, bought locally in 1992. 210k miles, with typical characteristics for age and mileage. I've caught the FJ fever, and I'm looking forward to years of cruising in this old beast.
-Front axle rebuild w/brakes
-Replaced front differential pinion seal
-New suspension all around (just OE replacement. Nothing fancy...yet.)
-Several gaskets replaced for a sloppy and multifaceted oil leak.
-Minimal hose replacements (only the leaky ones this time around)
-New ignitor (she was sassy and wouldn't start consistently if she was hot.)
-Replaced engine vacuum lines
-Replaced steering damper
-Replaced sway bar bushings
The repair bill was more than the purchase price...
I still need to replace most of the existing hoses, new front seats, and address 3 sluggish and 1 non-working window. According to the guys at ACC, the rear differential could use replacing before too long. After that, she should be ready for exhaust replacement, 1-2" growth spurt (probably just spacers so i don't have to throw out her brand new shocks), BFG 33x10.50's, the Slee Short Bus front bumper and maybe some window tint.
As for the spacer method vs. suspension lift, she's not really gonna be a major off-road monster. Just a trustworthy ol' steed to take me and my girls (fiancee and dog) camping, mountain biking, hiking, etc.

Wait? These are punctures or spontaneous leaks? If they are punctures, and you have gotten 4 years out of them, they seem to be pretty damn good. Lol

Not all Land Rovers are useless!
Definitely silly punctures, with 3 -4 mm still on them I am not impressed. I did mention this elsewhere, the tyres perform fine on and off road, and for an AT they are quiet but, only halfway through there expected wear life and they are turning into marshmallows! 
The objects have been various screws, a bolt, a couple of unidentifiable pies of metal, and today a small pin, the type used to put architrave around a door frame.
Considering I hardly use the car these days in comparison to a few years back I am not impressed. Now stuck between putting a slightly larger tyre on or another stock set, but need the time to get an engineer to 'create a project' for me to present to the ITV inspection station, even if it is to just go up one size!!
EDIT: The tyres are 5 years old, there were no punctures at all until 4 years 8 months, and now counting 5 not 6 (my error) in as many months, now that is NOT acceptable!

My old man bought 4 new tires before doing a 5000km trip a few years back. Mostly gravel outback roads with a few places in between where low range was needed. No dramas for the whole trip until he got back to the main highway an hour from home and got a screw through an otherwise perfect tire. No tire is going to stop a screw or nail or anything similar, that's just bad luck.
Finished up removing the plasti-dip from around the headlights and grill frame. What a pain. Obviously didn't put it on thick enough. WD-40 works pretty good to ease the pain a little. Probably won't ever use it again, just a fad for me that wore off I guess. However still left it on the gold emblems.
Changed my front diff oil and decided to drop the tranfer case oil as well.
I just rebuilt my front and rear end wheel bearings in October, and already had some moly mixed in with the diff oil. Not soup but it was looking bad. Nothing on the magnet. I guess I need to get one of the centering tools to get the knuckles centered and properly shimmed and/or new axle shafts/birfs. Hopefully I can put it off until next winter. I even offset the seals really well.
I noticed some seepage on my tc last summer, didn't think much of it. A drip here and there every once in a while. Well found the cause...
Somebody horsed the fill bolt on there tight. I am wondering if this happened three years ago when I last changed the fluid, or if a monkey at the dealership that "used to" service my vehicle checked it and over torqued it.
I tried to clean it and built up some quick steel around the crack. Hopefully that helps. The fluid level was not down by much at all.

Yeh, but surely even the most hardened mechanic can be allowed to get fed up with IIRC now 5 punctures in 20 weeks?
Just checked the first puncture was third week in November, 5th 20th week later.

Bad luck is two punctures in the same week, 5 in 20 weeks is not, with NO off roading. I had BFG A/T and do not recall one puncture, even during years of competitions and DD.
The tyre rubber is simply going soft, perhaps from the heat and clear sky UV of last summer? Either way not impressed with 3-4 mm on the tread still to go.
