At 266k the brush needed replacing. No more dimming lights at idle

I tallied up all of the money I have ever spent on my cruiser, yikes!

Yeah, I stopped doing that years ago. I just don't want to know. :steer:

It would make you feel better to know how much @NLXTACY has in his LX450...

I have about $60k in my 1992. Including the original purchase price. It averages out to about $214/month over the life of ownership. I don't think that is bad at all...

I keep track, but I won't add it up.

My FJ55 cost me about $15K over the 10 years I owned it. not including gas and insurance, etc.

So $24K

:meh:

I've spent 15k on mine in the last 4 months alone

Yeah I passed the 6 figures a few years back :*(

In fairness you have one of, if not THE, nicest 80s out there. Nothing to be sad about. It's only money.

Injector pump, injectors, airbox, install and dyno runs $5k
New bullbar $2.2k
Parts for crank and turbo replacement $6k
Labour for crank replacement $2k

That's AUS dollars though. So that's like $100 American dollars. haha

Just over $5K this year so far (head gasket rebuild; replace front rotors, calipers, pads, lines).

What kind of temperature variance are you seeing with this fan installed and how much will they cost?

What an aux fan will do is control normal running temps at low speeds, setting in traffic, and under heavy 4wheeling in conditions like sand. What it will not do is take an engine that overheats or runs hot and make it run cooler.

My testing has shown the 80 fan moves plenty of air under normal condition, it is under low RPM and loaded condition it can use the help.

I will start a new thread with what A year of testing has concluded and discuss cost to determine if there is enough interest to move forward.

I'll be looking for that thread. In Texas heat during the summer, you need all the help you can get. For me, it isn't so much of an issue with the engine overheating as it is with keeping it as cool as possible. I have never seen it run really hot but the air conditioner won't keep you cool at all when it is over 105 unless you are going over 60 on the highway. Will the aux fan help with that issue?

My understanding is that the aux fan simply helps with AC at low speed and high ambian temp, nothing else.

Your post will be a great starting point for my aux fan thread in the 80 section. When I get back in the states I'll get posting using your quote.:)

For me anything over 200 degrees is too hot for water temp.
Watch for the thread and data and you will know if its right for you. Assuming you have a properly modded fan clutch if not that would be your first step.

Any secret to getting that off without breaking any of the fasteners or clips holding it in place?
You may also use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat plastics you are going to remove. Less chance of breaking the now much more plyable plastic.
