Threw together some aerial footage of our trip through the core of Appalachia in WV from earlier this month.

Phantom? Is it easy to avoid the trees?

First gen Phantom, Walkera 2D gimbal and GoPro Hero Black 3 off Craigslist - it's my truck / exploration quad. I have about $450 in the entire rig w/ camera - so the heartburn loosing it wouldn't be too bad. More expensive rigs I am reluctant to fly in challenging conditions - e.g. off a rock outcropping - @mervo this is further north near Wardensville.

Hard to avoid trees? Depth perception can be tricky - but not usually. If you are interested in flying buy a Hubsan X4 and train for months everyday. Makes large quads a breeze. Don't jump into the new "smart drones" i.e. 3DR solo without know how to fly manually.

It's also great for jump starting a slow to build camp fire..

I juste have finish my electrical accessory set-up with 3rd battery into the engine bay, fuse consol for fridge, radio communication, 12/220V converter, Terratrip and compressor.
New sub tank supports for long trip.

That sounds like an amazing rig for under $500 bucks...

I'm still in the practice mode, flying a LaTrax Alias but have wanted a Phantom bad now for the last year or so. Just as you mentioned "fly only want your willing to lose" ;-)

Do you have a write up on the sub tank install?

What you exactly want?

I use an original dual filler pipe.
The rear arch support is weld on the frame and bolt to the rear tank support. The front tank support is bolt on the original frame arch (just on the axle).

Decided to join the Dorkel crew, so got me one of those fancy eBay cheapos. Looked a little funny pulling it out of the box....

And no, the photo is not reversed, it mounts on the DS. And yes, I ordered the correct one but was sent this one. Already refunded me, but they refused to resend the correct one, said it was cost prohibitive and didn't even want this one sent back???

What 80 series are these used on? All the Aussie ones I've seen look like they still mount on the right side?

Omg! What a story that is!

Winner: I finally performed the true Toyota power steering bleed procedure. Yes. It is for real. Whining is gone.

Loser: got a battle wound from a 2009 Honda Pilot. In the concrete jungle you have to pick the right parking spot

I used to not have problems with my other cars as much, but with the size of this. I have 4 door bangs, and one fender scrape just from parking at work, and one time by my house.

keep in mind, I drive to work 2 times, a week and usually cycle the rest.

Right after rear differential was rebuilt. Took the rig out of the garage and this soft clinking noise starts when truck makes right hand curves. It turned out to be the emrgency brake pads where loosened. Some tension. The noise is gone.
