What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

Discovered a catastrophic DS front wheel bearing failure. Dana 60 swap is starting ahead of schedule..

The Rebuild

Tour off my Fenders and slowly taking my engine apart to get it ready to be pulled out of the vehicle and be rebuilt. First time actually working on an engine and first ever FJ60. Has been a fun Vehicle.

My friend wont do much anymore, this hj60 was sold for export, 2000 euro.
New roadtax rules are 2500 euro per year, sad he had to sell it.

, :steer: it was fun. Dutch government hates us all, shows that every day, every new plan is about coercion.

Looks like you have some of my turbines in the background! Shame about being taxed out of a cruiser, sorry to hear that. John

How much influence do you have with wind turbines?

Taught my wife to drive a manual in my sixty this weekend.

Nice!

This continent needs more people who are capable of driving standard transmissions.

I got my webasto installed and running. I also finished installing gas lift supports on the hood. I used 120lb, WAY too much power. Oh well, Now I have to jump to grab the hood! I like it!

Drove it :steer:

After 6 months of doing a restore, finally got to drive it:bounce::bounce2:

That is so cool. Are those front hubcaps or did you cut them?

Was everything bolt on with the axle? And where did you source the parts from?

I changed my oil and finally hooked up my electric fan! Got to go for a ride too :) I'm thinking I might drive it to work tomorrow "into the city"

Yes, all four hubcaps are front ones. Got the axle from SOR as well as the rebuild kit. Just swapped over the drum brake parts, no mods needed. Nice thing is rear axle uses same bearings as front now, less spare parts.

Looks like you have brand new springs?

Decided to change those out as well since they have been sagging. Good thing too, when disassembling the old packs, found the overload spring broken at the center pin, both sides.

Took the 60 to Yosemite for a trip with one of the clubs at my college. It rained nonstop from Friday afternoon until we left this morning. Saturday a small group of us (6) went up to Badger Pass Ski Resort and did some skiing/snowboarding while the rest of the group of 30 hiked to one of the falls (and got REEEEEAAALLLYYYY soaked!). My group did some hiking around after we got back from skiing, then made dinner back at camp.

...Somehow I figured out how to ride skis halfway down my first run... I didn't expect it to be that easy... (I've always ridden snowboards)

It was a great trip!
