I hadn’t considered aluminum honestly. I was just going to use 3/16 steel.

I’d like to make one out of aluminum. Get a beefy front bumper and keep the weight down. I’ve seen some made for other vehicles. Welding is a bit trickier and bending requires annealing. Something I’m only pondering at the momen....pretty far down the list of must do

I hear ya.
I believe there is a “flavor” of aluminum that is easier on the bending or brake work, depending on the severity of the bend. I don’t know the numbers for this particular recipe of aluminum off the top of my head.
I’ve played with welding it before, but not enough to jump in to a project like this...yet.

Added a passenger grab bar to my FJ60. The wife has pronounced it “life changing.” But then she said that when I recharged the AC too, so...

Installed hand throttle in ‘84 60. Used 62 cable and picked up pedal bracket from @offkilter. That’s the old cruiser control cable you see there tied up. Next is to remove all that stuff. Vac operated, tried it once, was a little scary. Had the time because of rain today, sports canceled.

Don’t ya just love those moments.
Absoloutely mind-blowing.
I was watching it like a hawk the 30 miles prior to hitting 200k. I was on the final leg of a 1,110 mile roundtrip, 30%-40% offroad trek to Cruiserfest in SLC. Multiple mountain passes. Only a broken tie-rod on day two (that I fixed at camp on day 3). I’ve been considering an engine swap. But @DaveInDenver told me at camp one night to never apologize for my vehicle being what it is and to “let my freak flag fly”. I’m now inspired to keep this as mechanically stock as possible. These are special, amazing vehicles...

My last trip I was thinking to myself how going over a hill at 45mph with t railer in tow was kinda painful. But there is something kinda awesome about the 30+ year old goodness of it all.

I'm humbled, but it's not like you were blocking ambulances delivering food to starving children or anything. Never feel embarrassed to enjoy your life even if a few hyperactive jerks can't deal with a climb on a scenic byway taking 3 minutes more. Then definitely know that the jokers you willingly spend free time trying to help you break your truck absolutely live for the chance to bust knuckles (and heckle) to help you get it fixed. It's the wrong turns at junction, dead ends to lakes, the repairs that make camp fires and frozen bourbon so much more memorable.

@JTU Very nice job man, what kind of noise insulation is it?

About a month ago I added an new Odyssey battery paired with a new battery tray from Stainless Trays. It’s true what everyone says, these trays are works of art...

Then about two weeks ago hitched up the old RV trailer and dragged it out to Black Rock City. What a blast we had! And of course the Cruiser performed perfectly. It was totally at home on the playa...
