New weatherstripping and de-chrome at all exterior windows plus new run at the driver's window. Also re-installed the original reworked regulator and threw the aftermarket POS that i installed a year ago in the trash. All is good in the window world now.

Dick, how did you get the window side chrome off? Tried when I was working on my spare door replacement and didn't seem to want to budge..

Blew the manifold gasket, thankfully not the head. The carb doesn't have much of a gasket, just the thin pre-applied thing on both sides of the insulator. Insulators are still available for around $100 so i went ahead and got one.

What are your smog numbers like? what are you failing on?

Don't want to highjack this thread on my smog issues... So I'll go find a CA Smog post and tag you. Down and dirty... I'm running lean at 25mph. Blowing to many hyrdocarbons. I have a laundry list of things I've done.

@NeverGiveUpYota, Thanks Felicity. I mostly needed a reason to strike up a convo with DFXR since he's in my hood. ;)

Yeah man, send me a PM or whatever. I am no expert but have been thru 5 smogs with this old b*%$#, and I'm due for another pretty much right now. They can't keep me off the road...

I always get a big knot in my stomach when it comes time for smog. I've been lucky so far. Just did mine last week. Good luck!

Took some friends up north for a short overnighter in Santa Barbara mountains off West Camino Cielo. Then parked the truck and rode to San Felipe on the bike....definitely would like to go back to Baja in the truck, so many good places to visit that I couldn't reach on the bike.

THAT'S A REAL EASY RIDER SPECIAL YOU'VE GOT THERE.!!!

hey fellas what do you think? I know there's a couple of old threads about towing with 60s but thought I'd hear back from more folks in this more general thread. Apologies in advance if this is an out there question. For the last few years I've been looking for a camping solution to pull behind my Cruisers. I have a low mile 89 FJ62 converted to a new H55F manual and a 96 FZJ80. For years I've towed all manner of campers up to 28ft with my trust Ford Super Duty. Bought a larger popup camper with a 14.5ft box and it was a high wall (3,000lbs plus and that's dry weight) a couple years back hoping to pull that with my cruisers but it's a losing proposition. There's some pretty big hills between Phoenix and the much cooler north country up I-17. After lots of searching I finally found this gem a 2006 Fleetwood Yuma. It's a 9.5ft box, about 14ft overall, with no AC, no hot water heater, but it does have a furnace and a water pump. Just wanted something simple and light. It's 1500lbs dry weight. Can't wait to try it hooked to my FJ62. If that'll pull it then the much more modern inline six in the 80 series should pull it okay. Any predictions?

Well @samtoddlee , I think you are gonna be disappointed. That trailer isn't suitable for a 60. You'd be better off with a roof top tent and a camp box, or camp box trailer. I towed a Viking (similar to your pop up) with a Chevy Astrovan and that worked fairly well, and it might be fine if you avoid mountains, valleys, and trails. And why would you wanna do that if you have a Cruiser? Just my $.02. I put a receiver hitch on my 60 so I can tow my 16' river raft to the gnarly boat lauches.

My boys and I got Scarlet ready for SAS#2. Stoked about heading out this weekend. Hooking up with @CenTXFJ60 and @CaptClose in Amarillo at @Potato LAUNCHERs barn. Then heading out to Ouray. Seems like we will have a few Red, White, and Blue entourages in the caravan this year. Heading out from Dallas with @The Jade Bean to Amarillo.

It’s gonna be awesome! You get the carb issue sorted?

Yep. Switched back to trusty Aisin. I had switched it out earlier thinking it was a carb issue. Turned out to be a Idle control solenoid power issue.

Details please on parts etc you bought, looks much better without the chrome

I found a 1350# A-liner sport pretty intolerable with the fzj80, but that was at high altitude on 35s.

Dick, how did you get the window side chrome off? Tried when I was working on my spare door replacement and didn't seem to want to budge..

It was really pretty easy once you get the piece started. I used a large flat screwdriver and a small rubber mallet to tap on the edge of the trim at 90 degrees to the door, being careful not to gouge the soon to be exposed paint underneath. The side trim is very tight in the corners, so I flexed it in the middle to start.

Details please on parts etc you bought, looks much better without the chrome

All in the first picture.

hey thanks for the input. I tried it out last night and it was fine on the flats but slowed down on the hills. got it up to highway speed ok though. Hoping the 80 series does a little bit better. thanks again
