Finished fabrication of the Aux tranny cooler mounts. Going to paint them black so they are not obvious.

There was an unused factory captive nut in the perfect place:

The lines will run through the center support and down under the front clip to the hard line and radiator.

You know you found the right partner in life when they put this up on the kitchen fridge:

Replaced my broken speedometer cable with a nice used one. What a pain since I couldn't figure out where it went trough the floor until I pulled half the interior out and found the stupid access hole in the floor under the heater. Lesson learned...but, now my speedometer works again finally.

Started my rear seat belt upgrade using the seatbeltplanet.com FJ60 rear belt set. It is turning out to be a little complicated, maybe a :banana: job. My "87 does not have the nuts in the c-pillar so I fished those with some string to pull up in the pillar. Actually this is super easy - remove cargo panels (pop em out), then just cram the shop-Vac up nozzle up behind the c-pillar where the big opening up there is. This is best done from the rear outboard side behind the panel area. Turn on the Vac, feed the string down thru the pillar hole - voila - vac sucks it right thru! Fishing done, 1 minute tops.

The plan is to pull a flange nut on a stud up in there, and glue it with JB, or otherwise secure it (haven't decided the best attack yet), so the upper belt swivel bolt can be threaded. That is the only tricky thing in the job.

Also located where I wanted to mount the retractors, and drilled the holes. These go right on the "bulge" in the trim for the wiring. So I'll have to trim around them best I can.

I am taking a lot of pics and will post a thread when I'm done.

PS the seat belt nuts are NOT M10x1.25 or M11x1.25! They are 7/16-20 UNF. So now I have a bag of 50 JIS M10 flange nuts I don't need. :flipoff2:

Fixed this - she's been sitting since Feb 2, been too busy to get around to it till now. One day after work I heard a horrible clanking just as I stared it; fan was in the shroud. The bearings were falling out of the old one (aftermarket) as I removed it. Installed new OEM pump and hoses from @beno. I'm not sure which is worse, wrestling all the hoses (and clamps) on and off the WP or constantly dropping nuts trying to get the fan clutch bolted up to the pump. No matter; I am pretty confident the shiny new WP will outlast the rest of the drivetrain now . Took the wife out to dinner in it tonight, good be back in the Cruiser!

Just did this as well! Let me know if you want photos of where I mounted my retractors. I had a set of OEM ones re-webbed by seatbelt planet.

Did some Land Cruising with the Lady looking for Bluebonnets in Marble Falls, TX, before she has to head up to Oklahoma for 10 days doing environmental survey field work. We had some success but they will prolly blow up in that area a week from now.

Oh, I guess the the mounting points are different than the later 60/62...I have TORFAB brackets in my 62 mounted up nicely! Not sure if I like the Vader seats, they came out of a 1995 M3. I'm a skinny guy and they are a little narrow in the thigh area. I think I like yours a little better!

Love the Seats! I had a 2004 M3 and I miss the snug seats and the height as compared to the stock FJ60 seats. I'm a tall guy so I may do this eventually.

Early 60 series owners get ready....

BMW seat brackets.

Gotta give @torfab some love for letting me try out a prototype. 8 hrs or so of labor for the one side. Should get dialed down with the design changes they are going to make.

There is a serious amount of cutting involved in these. Front seat bracket, bottle jack mount, and rear seat mount pedestals all have to go.

This is very cool. I'm currently running the BMW E46 seats like you've got there with some homemade brackets that are similar to the the universal ones you see on EBay. But at 5'8" they sit just a little higher than I'd like. I can imagine taller folk might not dig the setup.

Would love to know more about the body mods you had to do and would be very interested in a set of these when (if) they are made for sale.

Keep us posted!

This one is “What did you do with your 60 Twenty-five years ago”.

I was in grad school. Spring of 1992. Two buddies and I hopped into my 1985 FJ60 and drove from Indiana to the east coast to follow the Grateful Dead for 5 shows. 2 at the Cap Center in Maryland and then 3 at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in NY. We hit a Dark Star the 2nd night in Maryland. It was a long strange trip...... I should have never sold that 60.
