@4Cruisers the adjuster locknuts change through the years. They start @17mm, shrink to 14mm in late 70's, shrink again to 12mm in 84-ish.
Thanks, Jim. My current Land Cruisers have either a '76 2F (two of these), an '84 2F, or an '89 3FE. I'll be pulling the valve cover on my '84 FJ60 next time I'm out in Nevada to try and find the source of the newly-developed loud knock at idle. I'm expecting the locknuts to have 12mm heads. In response to an earlier post I received a lot of good suggestions on how to approach diagnosing the knock.

Finished buttoning up the PT Cruiser seat install and then FINALLY got around to finishing some welding that I apparently forgot in the rear wheelwell when I replaced the quarter last year. No pics of the welding due to the fact that I just was getting stuff done.

Oh yeah and I finally got around to replacing the headlamps. Went from the old 55/60w PIAAs that I had previously since I purchased BeBe and moved to the glass housing to a new Hella 80/100w. No night driving yet so I cant comment on difference.

I got tired of my hat floating around the truck and getting crushed. I undid the dome light screw and used that to mount the hat saver without drilling.

Tell your friend that Gold paint looks amazing man. I wish I could of had a 60 at 15 and learned standard but everyone gets their own blessings!!!
Your a good friend for helping. I wouldn't of bought my 60 without the help of a good guy that knows much better than me about these things.
That's actually pretty interesting about a 15 year old getting a 60. I think my son is the only one in his HS that can drive a stick. He's been driving it the last 6 months since he had a learners permit.

When my oldest son was getting ready to drive I thought it would be good for him to have an FJ60, so I started looking around. There was a 1-day American Toyota ad in the ABQ Journal for an '82 - $9,998 sale price $4,998. Well, it turned out to be a keeper and we drove it home to join the '84 we bought new many years earlier. It turns out I kept the '82 for myself and my oldest, and then youngest, sons drove the '84 to high school for a total of six years. When I got the '84 back I sold the '82 to a friend here in town for his daughter to drive to the same high school. I still have the '84, but rust from salty roads in the mountains of northern New Mexico have taken their toll on the body. Given its history, I'm tempted to get it back on the road using a much better frame and body that's been sitting around my property for more than 15 years. I'm just not sure I'm ready to take on another big FJ60 project anytime soon. I'm still finishing my '86 FJ60 project.

You can buy a whole new lock set?!
Think so... only comes as a set though but thought that he had quoted me like $85 a while back.. Does NOT include the rear hatch lock if I remember correctly. @beno
