Did a few things the last few days.....
Finally got around to wiring up the direct line from the positive battery terminal to the alternator with a 150a fuse in between.

Then took her out Christmas tree hunting with the fam. Been a tradition for us since I was 3yrs old. BeBe did great the entire way and everyone loved her. Alas no pics of the tree on top.

Beefy looking wire, what size? Notice any difference in electrical performance?

pretty sure that it is 0/4 gauge wire but don't remember as I have had it sitting on my shelf for about a year, it was made by @Fourrunner from one of his kits. I bumped up the idle so that I would have consistent voltage when idling with lights and heater going and it has been rock solid that last few days.

Squishy shift knob mod :grinpimp:. From this

The turtle is some soft rubbery promo item I received at a tortoise meeting a few years. Yesterday I decided to put it to use. I hollowed out a cavity and using 3M super sticky yellow goo glued the turtle to a 4 speed shift knob. I doubt it'll hold up long-term and when it wears out I'll swap back the 5 speed knob.

No that's is the ejector button for the passenger seat!!
Environmentalist everywhere are crying:cry: over the abuse of that turtle.:D

No, that's reverse. This particular turtle is a blem and the shift pattern delineated by the order of the appendages is out of sequence with that of the transmission. Side benefit will confuse any would be Cruiser thieves

Jim, You do recall that I am from Southern Georgia and a product of a rural education therefore words like "delineated" and "appendages" are way beyond my pay grade. :)

Just kidding. Had to redo the spindle bearings. Pretty cool how this axel hangs on like 2" steel dowels. This was Friday night. Had the good fortune to have my father in law here. Could not handle that axel solo.
I am actually doing cruiser stuff as well. Fixing some leaks on my youngest sons 60. Lifter cover had an aftermarket gasket (another one???) which did not even fit. No wonder oils was pouring out the side of the bock. Also , this cruiser was desmogged by the PO but used a new OEM smog pump. I have a spare pump delete bracket so I'm taking advantage of this time.

Why didn't you say that in the first place? :)

broke my early ARB roof rack.. one of the aluminum "legs" broke from a stress fracture I had welded up over the summer, but that's the 3rd one that has broken, I think im going to cut them all off and mount the full size basket to 3 Yakima bars and 1A brackets. I also spent most of the day trying to get some of the limb rash out and just did a general clean up, every time I spend time with the 60, I am reminded what a good rig it is and what a perfect fit for me it is..

Don't know if Monday is considered part of the weekend but it was my day off, wife was teaching a class most of the day so that gave me some time to futz with the cruiser. Finished up some exhaust stuff. Since I used exhaust u-bolt clamps for the section between the 2" and 2 1/2" pipes I was getting a leak there. I had used some muffler sealer stuff but apparently it never setup properly and was causing a slight exhaust leak at one of the clamp points. Said screw it and grabbed some JBWeld High Heat muffler cold weld. Let that sit overnight and this morning I couldn't hear the leak anymore.

This happened a couple weeks ago but with the help of @POTATO LAUNCHER we installed

HFS lift springs from Cool Cruisers
tie-rod ends from Cruiser Corps
horns from '92 Cadillac
BFGoodrich TA 30.50x9.5x15 on stock rims from Discount Tire

For those that have replaced their old, tired suspension you know what an incredible difference this makes. I'm driving a very smooth '62 these days.

Pics or it didn't happen.

It was about 2 weeks back now, but I returned home from a 7300km trip (over 3 weeks) in my hj61. The alternator shat itself about 10km after leaving home, but that was the only issue on the whole trip. Fully loaded (with the roof rack high) I got about 12l/100km - with a 190L diesel tank it gives a good range!!)
Yesterday the clutch slave cylinder also shat itself, so today was a new slave and master cylinder....
And last week we bought a 2014 VX 200 series TTD... but I like driving the 60 a LOT better, so the 200 won't get many k's put on it!!!
