Holy cow! You guys really are getting snow!!! Wow!

Don't let anyone hit your Pig in the snow...

Removed front bucket seats and rear bench. Removed rubber floor mat to expose interior rust. Not bad at all compared to what I've seen on here, but still a little repair coming up. Cut off the rusted out roll pan areas under the doors to make way for fab of the upcoming sliders.

Finally got my parking brake operational. Bought shoes for it and they gave me the wrong ones. Been trying everything to get them to fit. Ordered new ones from SOR as a last ditch effort cuz I was stumped. Got the truck back together and driving in 30 mins. It had been apart for about 6 weeks!

Next up is installing the extended brake lines, sliders, rust repair then paint. Gonna be a sweet azz rig by end of summer!!

Stripped most of the paint off the front upper/lower fenders, and front valances.

Went to Sacramento Spring...got 4 brand new custom built U-bolts, to go with my brand new off the shelf Ruff-Stuff spring plates.

i dont have any mine broke when we were tearing it down for paint but i think i might go with a different turn signal

THe 73 era FJ40 are still available from Toyota and are reasonable, I think you could modify the base and use them.......40's mount on the angled section of the fender so the base is tapered, 55's mount flat.
My favorite FJ turn signal.....I have them on my 76 FJ40..... got rid of the large ones.

Replaced the steering damper as the one I had was rusty. Got a good deal on one off ebay.

After that I made a door panel. 1/8th inch luan with vinyl leather cover. Traced the old door, cut with a jigsaw, sprayed industrial adhesive, fit the pleather over, glue the back and mounted it on the door. Not bad for the first one. Cost about $7 to make and less than 2 hours
door panel FJ55.webp

ground off some rust on the back sides of the inner fenders and around the headlight assemblies.

Ige has the base that you need to use those early 40 turn signals

They make some that are very similar and easier to get for box vans, semi's, Trailers. I found some that I will probably replace mine with.

c'mon guys the correct signals are cheap and quality from Toyota..........the blue one pictured above deserves them...........:cheers:

Now I know the signals are available, but do they have the correct 55 bases on them or are they the 40 bases on them ? Last ones I got from yota (for my 73 40) obviously had the 40 bases on them. Rusty if you're talking bases that blend/match in to what we need (which I understand to be no longer avail....but hopefully am wrong)....post pics and part numbers please.
