It’s nice to know that recycled beer cans can contribute to a shiny new Toyota bumper. 😁

I nabbed two wheels/tires off of my wife's 200 last night to see how the size looks on my pickup. It is a jump up in height 1" to a 34" and a bit over 1" more in width. Her 200 has 275/75-17 Yoko G003's on it. The offset is wrong but good enough for this test. I definitely like the tire size match to the lift over what I have. The rubber overdrive (over, overdrive?) would be nice too, since this will be a long distance rig with the alucab in the back.
I'm not sure I would pull the trigger on a setup like this, but it is nice to be able to get a real idea of how it looks.

What engine are you going to again?
LS3, i went with "connect and cruise" just to simplify a bunch of issues (and some of the big downsides like loom being long doesnt bug me). At the core of that decision is wanting to swap in a 6L80, the aftermarket ecu support for the 6L80 isn't super mature yet is my understanding.

Got it fully mounted, my big hope was that the adapter meant for 80-series would mount up correctly and space things correctly. That totally worked which was huge, now onto wiring, fuel, cooling, steering, etc. Self imposed goal is to have it ready to go for expo PNW so feeling the pressure, I think in a good way 😬

You'll have to document how the swap went. Maybe I'll hire you to do mine in 5 years!

Wish I was headed to Expo PNW, would love to see the build!

Got the bumper all stitched up and grind down. Now just need to do some sanding with the DA and it should be ready to send off for powder coat.

Had some great luck a few weeks ago.
I turned my tub camper build upside down and heard something fall out. The tub is the rear end of my original donor 73 series which I kept to make a camper.
I’ve known for 9-10 years I had the inspection panel for the fuel sender somewhere I just didn’t know where it went. Apparently while the old body was on the rotisserie it must have slid to one side and lodged itself up under the passenger side internal cavity.
I cut a piece of plastic to cover the inspection porthole thinking I’ll find it in one of the boxes I’ve carried house to house but to no avail after years of searching.

Long story short I cleaned it, straightened it, primed, painted, new grommets, foam seal and installed it today.

Sometimes it’s the small things.

Been stuck in Trinidad Colorado for a couple days with the HZJ77 due to starter/battery issue but at least the weather is nicer here than Texas. I guess no amount of trip prep will stop the surprises from coming out. Hope to head back home by tomorrow at least.

That stinks. At least Trinidad is nice. Have looked at property there. If I ever quit blowing money on Cruisers and get serious about retiring, I might actually find a getaway place🤣. RC, who you probably met at Jimmy's lives in Trinidad. Can't remember his mud handle

I couldn't remember how to spell your damn handle!

@FJ73Texas , the character on the left🤣

Haha. I remember that chicken torture that day at Jimmy's barn. I think that was the day I first met you.

Thanks for pointing that out Pat. I do know Ryan @CaptClose and he texted me after you told him of my troubles here. I had no idea he was living in Trinidad specifically. I came up to his place to visit for a bit after he texted me that you told him.

Update: had a starter shipped over from cruiser outfitters and I am up and running again but unfortunately that was before I realized that Ryan lives here about 15 mins away from where I broke down.

Glad you got to meet up at least. Their place is pretty cool and he and Martha are great people. "Pastor Ryan" did us the honor of presiding over our wedding (almost) 2 years ago.
