Rebuilt/renewed - Injection pump, radiator, IC, turbo seals, starter, exhaust manifold, another s*** ton of nuts/bolts, JB Weld repair to hard-to-find-high side battery tray, cleaned and painted everything (ultra sonic cleaner paid for itself in one load), Sound deadened the hood...

Today I added some fuel conditioner.
Located my bottle of diesel 911.
Put my spare ext cord aboard, along with spare puffy jacket, blanket.
Changed oil to full synth 5w Rotella.
Ordered a spare fuel filter.

Why? After an unseasonably warm fall/winter, things are about to spiral into a polar vortex. Best be ready...

For those us that didn’t take voodoo classes while in school can you repost in Fahrenheit? 😁

Bigly cold.

Charles,
Rather than Fahrenheit, I seems obvious that Kelvin or Rankine better would feed your interest in the temperature forecast relative to absolute zero. Odd...
:worms:

Use the Reamur Temp scale like Napoleon did when they were freezing in Russia.

Is the 74403-60140 tray going bye-bye? I've got a few here that were part of a special order I did. I've never gotten around the adding them to our active inventory as we've not had additional inquiries for them yet.

Battery trays for 7x are high on my list of parts to have available.

Every single one I’ve experienced has been **toasted**

Had a hard time finding the deep one closest to the firewall. Both mine had holes and paper thin spots. JB Weld is only so good....

I'll take one 74403-60140 off your hands.

They are available from any Toyota dealership in the US.

😉

Sure. @OGBeno indicated they are available through domestic dealers. I recall being told no-go from our local dealer but it may have been an HS7 situation rather than a not in the system. If you can source from a stateside dealer, it will be cheaper than me :D

Hello,
Might not be the correct place to post but there is a lot of activity on this thread.
I am looking for someone in the WA/OR area that will be kind enough to volunteer to lend their HZ77 (with suspension seats) to Planted Seat Brackets for 2-3 days so they can use it to design a bracket that will work for the 77. I know a lot of people want after market seats but don't go that route because there are no adapters on the market. They are located in Kirkland, WA.

Thank you

So... my oldest is driving my old jetta diesel that I used to own that my wife used to drive more than I did.

In fact, she loved it so much she promptly went put and bought her own when we gave it to my oldest.

My middle son is good at saving. He wanted to get something more sporty and spent a few months searching for a deal on a GTI.

He found one about 5 hrs away that was pretty promising. The price was right too. They agreed to hold it until we could get down there to take a look.

This was the cleanest 20yr old car I have ever seen. No rust (west coast car) only just over 200,000km (125,000 miles). Got it for $2500, mechanically needs nothing and had new brakes and tires.

1.8L Turbo, 180HP. Pretty sweet car for a 16yr old.

The land cruiser did amazing hauling it through the mountains in the dead of winter.

Changed the fuel filter on the HZJ73. I noticed some whitish smoke from the exhaust and happened to pump the filter and noticed that despite the stopcock being closed on the bottom, fuel was coming out of the water drain at the bottom of the filter. I am guessing that this was allowing some air to get into the system. I got a new stopcock and more importantly the o-ring which was flattened and obviously not sealing. I wouldn't have replaced the filter which was pretty new, however, my strap filter wrench deformed the old one quite a bit (I am still waiting on the special part wrench). The o-ring and stopcock are available from US toyota dealers. Also dumped a bottle of the liquid moly in the new filter. Truck seems to be running great now.

Hello,

Battery trays from newer model year (1999 on or 2007 on) trucks are a good replacement. They fit. And they are available from the usual sources.

Make sure you order enough bolts to mount it.
