We use 2 12 volt Jump packs on 24 volt trucks. Each pack is individually connected to each battery's terminals. We have also jumped them with a single 12 volt pack, connected to the battery with the lowest voltage. Sometimes that's enough.
Ahhh. Good to know. Buying two 12 volt jumpy packs is still way cheaper than a single 24v pack.

you trying to tell us we cant have new 70 series trucks is because of employee profit sharing?

Sorry, 100th Congress. Not the current 118th.

BTW, most of the environmental rules that exclude the 70 from the US market are found in the Clean Air Act, another product of a Republican administration, in that case Nixon.

Crying won’t help.

New Tires & Wheels and some longer legs! Its been a process but finally wrapping it up. Quite the transformation & very happy with the results. After some headaches with OME suspension on my old HJ61 I decided to use Dobinsons 2" lift on the 73. 100% satisfied with Dobinsons set-up. Very smooth ride!

Take our your pavlovian political response out and look at whats beneath the proverbial "hood" of the regulatory state.

Where do you think the 25 year rule comes from?

The reason we dont have a 70 here in the US is 100% due to EPA and other regulatory agencies in the US that push for endless inane complexity in the name of safety, the environment and "compliance" broadly.

The full court press to push for EV's is undeniably a product of this administration but politicians of the uni party leadership have been pushing us towards expensive complicated portly vehicles for decades....and its not just from the regulatory state its K street and special interest pushing for more expensive/feature and function rich vehicles which are more complicated (and profitable).

How much $$$$ can be milked from the consumer....
Supposedly one of the main lobbyists for putting the 25-year rule in place was Mercedes-Benz USA. In the early-mid 80's grey market Euro spec MB's were very popular in the US due to the higher power output (less restrictive emissions) and better appearance (no 5mph crash bumpers). MBUSA wasn't happy about their profits getting eaten into by grey market importers, so they lobbied Congress for blanket import restrictions.

Like others have said, these laws go back decades and aren't likely to change, unfortunately.

I came here to say what you just did ... it was not the EPA it was corporate greed. And as @gilmorneau pointed out, these rules were put in place by republicans. Not taking sides or making things political, just sharing facts.

One thing I love about the 70 series platform though, is that even if you can't just import a newer one, these trucks are kinda like legos and anyone who's motivated enough can basically build their dream 70 working within the existing rules.

looks awesome, i like grey wheels

I drove my Cruiser into the winter nest. I'm going to drive it for a few days in the winter, but mostly it will be parked under the roof. I don't have winter tires for this, and I don't want to drive on salted roads.

lol I did the exact opposite, winter driving all day every day.

However you will still have a car in 10 years and mine will be reduced to ash… well rust I guess. In fluid film I trust

ohhhhhhhh ya

While I was in Sonoita, I had @OGBeno replace the front output seal on the transfer case. I highly recommend OLC 4x4 if you're in the Southwest! Worth the drive into the beautiful grassland steppe ecoregion of Southern Arizona. Now the rear of the 75 won't be sprayed with t-case fluid...

Thanks for trusting us with your 75 series, John. 👍👍 and great weekend of hanging and bike riding!

My door saga is concluded. I ordered two, "brand new" take-off doors from Cruiser Parts last year while the 75 was in Kelly Saad's shop getting some major body work done. They showed up, packed so the actual brand new door was on the outside of the pallette. It looked great so I left it for 6 months while the 75 got finished up. Well, the passenger's door was perfect–brand new–and the driver door looked like it was on a Aussie demolition derby ute. So thrashed, cracked, and busted beyond repair.

Cruiser Parts just waffled and never followed through with a matching door–all the doors they sent me to approve as replacements were thrashed.

I got a contact from Sulli–Dan up in Canada–who sorted me with a much nicer driver's door. Thanks, Dan! I had to rebuild it with parts from that thrashed door from CP (scissor lift, glass, etc) but it buttoned up nicely.

I'm amazed at this community. @OGBeno, Sulli, Dan, Ophir all lent a hand. Thank you, gentlemen.

I got the door centered with that nifty Toyota S-bend door bolt wrench but this door is slightly bent at the bottom left, so I'll be "cold setting" that back at my buddy's body shop here in town...

Picked up the seats and door cards from the upholstery shop yesterday:

The brown on the back panel isn't quite original, but I actually like it that more maroon.

Door cards are built up on aluminium sheet so they won't rot if they get wet, unlike masonite. Some tweaks to the stitching to make them easier to make, and also just sit more evenly.

This is a good hurry up to get on with the rest of it.

I work weird hours and I’m bad with deadlines sometimes, so I thought that the inspection was 9 months overdue on my 74. I went to the DMV to sheepishly renew it… And the girl behind the counter goes, “uhhhhh, you’re actively registered until March 2024”… I had actually gotten it inspected and just never switched my sticker. $6.50 and one new sticker later, and I’m no longer living in shame and fear of my local police department.
